J&K High Court Chief Justice Sanjiv Kumar Visits Sharda Temple at LoC Teetwal

TEETWAL: Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Justice Sanjiv Kumar, along with his family, paid his maiden visit to the Sharda Temple at LoC Teetwal on Sunday. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

During the visit, Justice Sanjiv Kumar paid obeisance and performed puja at the newly constructed Sharda Temple, which was inaugurated in March 2023 by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by Registrar General of the J&K High Court M.K. Sharma, SDM Karnah Mohammad Raiyaz and other officials.

Chief Justice visits Sharda Temple

Justice Sanjiv Kumar was received at the temple by Ajaz Khan, Coordinator, and Mahaveer Thussu, Manager. Priests Kamal and Ritik Raina were also present during the visit.

The Chief Justice offered prayers at the temple and took part in the religious rituals at the site, which has gained significance following its reconstruction near the Line of Control in Karnah.

Appreciation for temple reconstruction

During his visit, Justice Sanjiv Kumar appreciated the efforts of the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir in reclaiming and rebuilding the temple.

The temple stands at a site where a Sharda shrine reportedly existed before Partition during the rule of the Maharaja. The original structure was reportedly damaged amid the violence and upheaval surrounding Partition.

The reconstruction of the temple has since become an important initiative associated with efforts to restore the site’s religious and cultural significance.

Chief Justice also visits Sikh Gurdwara

Justice Sanjiv Kumar also visited the Sikh Gurdwara located within the same temple complex.

His visit to both places of worship highlighted the diverse religious heritage associated with the Teetwal area and the historic significance of the site.

The visit by the Chief Justice and his family comes as the reconstructed Sharda Temple continues to attract visitors and attention as an important religious and cultural landmark near the Line of Control.
