Three of Family Killed as SUV Plunges into Gorge in Reasi
Three members of a family were killed and two others injured after an SUV skidded off a hilly road and plunged into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, officials said on Wednesday. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The accident took place near Panasa village late on Tuesday night when the driver of the SUV reportedly lost control while negotiating a curve.
The vehicle was travelling from Thanole towards Thub village when it veered off the road and fell into the gorge.
Three Family Members Killed
Rescuers recovered the bodies of three people from the wreckage.
The deceased were identified as Prem Singh, 50, his wife Turi Devi, 45, and his mother-in-law Durgi Devi, 70.
Two other passengers travelling in the vehicle managed to jump out before it plunged further into the gorge.
They sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials said the condition of both injured passengers was reported to be stable.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by motorists travelling on the narrow and challenging mountain roads of the Jammu region, particularly at night.
Six Injured in Separate Rajouri Accident
In a separate road accident late Tuesday night, six people were injured after a cab veered off the road and landed in roadside fields at Gundha village in the Khawas area of Rajouri district.
The injured were taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said.
Further details about the circumstances of the Rajouri accident were not immediately available.
Police and other authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding both accidents.
