16-Year-Old Boy Drowns in Lidder River in Anantnag, Body Recovered by SDRF
ANANTNAG: A 16-year-old boy drowned in the Lidder River in the Chee area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased was identified as Barik Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmed Sofi, a resident of Laram Ganjipora in Anantnag.According to officials, the incident took place at Dar Mohalla in Chee, after which information was received by the authorities. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
SDRF Launches Search Operation
Soon after the incident was reported, a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Anantnag, launched a search and rescue operation.
Local residents also assisted the SDRF team in searching the river for the missing teenager.After sustained search efforts, rescuers recovered the boy’s body from the Lidder River.
The body was subsequently handed over to the local police for the completion of legal and other formalities.Further details about the circumstances surrounding the drowning incident are awaited.
