Former Baramulla District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Safina Baig is expected to join the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) soon.

Sources said that Baig, who is a well-known political leader in North Kashmir, may officially join the National Conference in the coming days.
She has remained active in politics and has a strong presence in different parts of Baramulla district.
Political Career and Background
Safina Baig is a lawyer by profession. She also served as the Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee.
She won the Baramulla DDC election as an independent candidate and later became the Chairperson of the council.
In the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, she contested as an independent candidate from the Wagoora-Kreeri constituency.
Baig Says Decision Will Be Taken Soon
When contacted about the reports, Safina Baig said that a decision would be made soon.
Her possible move to the National Conference is being seen as an important political development because of her influence in North Kashmir and her independent support base.

Safina Baig is the wife of veteran politician Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, who has played a major role in Jammu and Kashmir politics over the last two decades.
