Mehbooba Mufti Warns of Rising Crisis in Jammu and Kashmir Over Jobs, Livelihoods and Policy Changes

Rising Crisis in Jammu and Kashmir

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday warned that the Union Territory is facing several serious problems. She said issues like unemployment, loss of income, and administrative changes are creating difficulties for people.

While speaking at a public gathering, Mehbooba Mufti, according to Kashmir News Service (KNS), highlighted concerns about the closure of religious schools. She mentioned Siraj-ul-Uloom and earlier action against Madina-ul-Uloom, saying these steps have caused worry among religious scholars and the public.

She also spoke about the use of machines replacing manual labour. According to her, many families who depended on daily work have lost their source of income. She said this has led to a complete loss of earnings for many households.

Raising concerns about jobs, the PDP leader alleged that recruitment is not fair. She claimed that jobs are being given through backdoor methods, where relatives and influential people are preferred. Meanwhile, many qualified youth are still unemployed.

Mehbooba Mufti also discussed changes in the Revenue Department. She said that earlier, Urdu was commonly used in official work, but new language requirements have created confusion among the public.

She urged the administration to take immediate action. She called for fair and transparent recruitment, protection of local jobs, and quick steps to address the growing concerns of the people.

Her statement highlights rising public worries about employment, education, and administrative changes in Jammu and Kashmir.
