Officials said the alert is based on specific intelligence inputs suggesting a planned two-stage attack. This may include an initial blast followed by firing to cause maximum damage. Although no group has been officially confirmed, Pakistan-backed organisations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba are suspected.
As a precaution, authorities have tightened movement rules and announced convoy restrictions on major highways. Security forces have increased checks and surveillance in sensitive areas.
All personnel have been instructed to travel only in bulletproof vehicles and wear protective gear during operations. Mobile checkpoints have been set up in towns and cities, where vehicles and motorbikes are being checked carefully. People have also been asked to report any suspicious activity immediately.
Surveillance has been increased along the Line of Control and the International Border. Security teams are also checking routes, camps, and important installations to detect any explosives.
Special high-altitude units of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, including the ‘Snow Leopards’ and ‘Markhor’ teams, have been deployed in forest areas and snow-covered regions. These units are trained to operate in difficult terrain and are working closely with the army to track militant movements.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat said that operations are now focused on upper areas and forests across several districts to stop militants from hiding and regrouping.
Meanwhile, Counter Intelligence Kashmir has carried out raids in Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Shopian, exposing a cross-border recruitment network. Officials said the module was linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba operative Shabir Ahmad Lone, who is believed to be operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Investigations also revealed links to a Bangladesh-based network and attempts by Pakistani handler Shehzad Bhatti to recruit youth from different parts of India for attacks and reconnaissance missions.
These developments highlight the serious security situation in the region, with forces working round the clock to prevent any possible attack.
