In a strict action against violation of norms, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, on Thursday sealed Fast Track Filling Station in the district after it was found keeping its dispensing unit dry despite having adequate petrol stock.
The DC, accompanied by senior officials, conducted surprise inspections of several filling stations across Kulgam to review fuel availability and ensure smooth supply. During the inspection, the petrol pump was found violating established norms by not dispensing fuel to customers even though petrol was available in stock. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Speaking on the occasion, DC Shahzad Alam said the pump has been sealed immediately. He added that an FIR will be registered against the owner of the petrol pump for the violation.
The Deputy Commissioner assured the public that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the district. He urged people not to panic and to avoid hoarding or spreading rumours regarding fuel supply.
He further directed officers to maintain strict monitoring of all fuel stations and ensure that fuel is dispensed properly to consumers without any undue delay or artificial shortage.
The action has been widely appreciated by locals, who have been facing inconvenience due to irregular dispensing at some outlets.
Authorities have warned other petrol pump owners to strictly adhere to norms, failing which similar action will be taken against them.
This move comes as part of the district administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparent and hassle-free supply of essential commodities, including fuel and LPG, to the general public.
