In a tragic road accident, Dr. Tabassum Naz, an Assistant Professor in the Zoology Department at Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch, lost her life on Thursday morning.
The accident took place near Kallar on the Jammu–Poonch highway in Rajouri district, when the car she was travelling in crashed into a roadside parapet.
According to officials, Dr. Tabassum Naz was travelling in a Maruti Swift with her husband, Muhammad Haamid, who was driving the vehicle. Both sustained serious injuries in the crash. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Dr. Tabassum Naz died due to her injuries, either at the spot or shortly after being taken for medical help. Her husband suffered severe injuries and was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, where his condition is reported to be critical.
The incident has shocked the academic community in Poonch and across Jammu and Kashmir. Colleagues and students remembered Dr. Naz as a dedicated teacher who was deeply committed to her profession and students.
Many political leaders, academics, and members of the public have expressed grief and extended condolences to the family.
Police have registered a case and started an investigation to find out the exact cause of the accident. Officials are looking into possible reasons such as speed, mechanical issues, or road conditions.
The sudden death of Dr. Tabassum Naz has been widely mourned, with people offering prayers for her and wishing a speedy recovery to her injured husband.
