Heavy Security at Tourist Destinations

Police, CRPF, and other security agencies have increased patrolling, surprise checking, and surveillance in sensitive areas.

Officials said all security forces have been asked to remain alert against any possible threat. Popular tourist spots, religious shrines, hotels, and public areas are under extra watch.

Special attention has been given to Pahalgam, where the 2025 attack happened in the Baisaran Valley meadow area.

New Safety Steps in Pahalgam

Authorities have introduced a QR code identity system for tourism workers such as pony operators, vendors, and hawkers.

Each approved worker will carry a unique QR code linked to identity details, verification records, and route permissions.

Officials believe this system will help improve visitor safety and better monitoring.

Border and LoC Also on Alert

Security deployment has also been increased along the International Border and the Line of Control after reports of possible infiltration attempts.

Senior officers, including V.K. Birdi, have reviewed the security plan through meetings in Srinagar.

Tourists Returning to Kashmir

Despite anniversary concerns, tourists are returning to Kashmir in good numbers. Many visitors said they feel safe because of better security arrangements.

Tourism officials and local businesses hope the summer season will continue strongly after the slowdown caused by last year’s attack.

Background of the Pahalgam Attack

The April 22, 2025 attack shocked the Valley and badly affected tourism. Gunmen opened fire in Baisaran Valley, killing tourists and a local pony operator.

The incident also raised tensions between India and Pakistan.

What Happens Next?

Authorities say the situation is being closely monitored and rapid response teams are ready.

The coming days are important as Kashmir tries to protect peace, reassure tourists, and honour the victims of the tragic Pahalgam attack.
