CJP Warns of Fresh Protest if Government Fails to Honour FIR Withdrawal Agreement by Tuesday
The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Monday warned that it would resume its nationwide agitation if the Central Government failed to provide a written agreement on the withdrawal of criminal cases against protesters and organisers by Tuesday.

CJP Seeks Written Commitment
Ranka said the understanding reached during discussions was that:
- All FIRs against protesters and organisers across India would be withdrawn.
- No new FIRs would be filed against CJP organisers or protesters in connection with the movement.
According to him, the CJP submitted a draft agreement to Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, and the government agreed to provide a written version after completing legal consultations.
“We are waiting for the government to share the written agreement. We hope a senior Cabinet minister will honour the agreement and FIRs will be withdrawn,” Ranka said.
Warning of Renewed Agitation
The CJP said it would be compelled to restart its protest if the written agreement was not received by Tuesday and if those arrested during the agitation were not released.
Ranka said the organisation expected the government to fulfil the commitments made during negotiations.

CJP Says Protest Ended ‘In Good Faith’
CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the organisation ended its month-long protest in good faith after the government accepted its key demands and assured action on the remaining issues within an agreed timeframe.
He said the organisation now expects those commitments to be honoured.
Kapil Sibal Consulted During Negotiations
Ranka said the organisation had consulted senior advocate Kapil Sibal before and after ending the agitation to ensure the student movement was protected from legal challenges or attempts to weaken it.
He alleged that protesters in previous movements had faced legal action after demonstrations ended and expressed concern that similar action could be taken against CJP members.
According to Ranka, the organisation has been providing legal and medical assistance to protesters since the beginning of the movement.
Kapil Sibal Calls for No Action Against Students
Addressing the press conference, senior advocate Kapil Sibal said students who participated in the demonstrations should not face legal action.
“We don’t want action to be taken against students who did a protest. It was an organic movement,” Sibal said.
