Political Battle Heats Up in Jammu and Kashmir Ahead of Panchayat Elections

Political Battle Heats Up in Jammu and Kashmir Ahead of Panchayat Elections

Panchayat Elections

After the successful completion of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, political activities are intensifying in preparation for the Panchayat elections.
The 2018 Panchayat elections saw boycotts from major parties like the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). While the elections were officially apolitical, the influence of political support was evident. This time, with NC emerging as the largest party in the Assembly elections, securing 42 seats, a fierce contest is expected between NC and the opposition parties—BJP, Congress, and PDP.
In 2018, voting was conducted in nine phases. The Jammu division recorded an impressive voter turnout of 83.5%, while the Kashmir division lagged at 44.4%. Overall, voter participation stood at 74%. Post-Assembly election victory, NC has shifted its focus to making inroads in Jammu, where the BJP’s dominance had limited its success in the Assembly elections.
Determined to bridge gaps, NC is actively engaging with voters in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Divisional president Rattan Lal Gupta affirmed the party’s commitment to serving people across regions equally, stating, “We will connect more people with our policies to ensure a strong performance in the upcoming Panchayat elections.”
On the other hand, BJP is prioritising an aggressive membership campaign. State president Sat Sharma expressed confidence in increasing the party’s vote share, adding, “Our top leadership and grassroots workers are united to achieve greater success.”
Furthermore, the Congress party is focusing on introspection and organizational restructuring. State president Tariq Hameed Karra highlighted the role of a fact-checking committee in identifying weaknesses from the Assembly polls, aiming to present fresh faces for better performance.
With over 65 lakh voters eligible to participate, 4,291 Panchayats and 33,597 Panch seats will be contested. The region-wise distribution of Panchayats underscores the administrative scale of the elections. Key districts in Jammu division include Jammu (305 Panchayats), Rajouri (312), and Kathua (257). In Kashmir, Baramulla leads with 402 Panchayats, followed by Anantnag (335) and Kupwara (385).
The State Election Commission is revising the voter list for 2025. Special camps are scheduled on November 23-24, November 30, and December 1 to address additions, deletions, and corrections. The final voter list will be published on January 6, 2025. Meanwhile, the OBC Commission is actively working on reservations—(KNO)

US Charges Adani Group Executives in Alleged Fraud and Bribery Scandal

Gautom Adani

The unsealing of a five-count criminal indictment by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York has sent shockwaves across global financial and corporate communities. Prominent Indian industrialist Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, along with key executives Sagar R. Adani and Vneet S. Jaain, has been charged with conspiracies involving securities fraud, wire fraud, and bribery. The allegations paint a troubling picture of corruption and deceit that has already begun to damage Gautam Adani’s image, not just within India but on a global scale.

The Allegations

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the defendants orchestrated a complex scheme to mislead U.S. and international investors while allegedly bribing Indian government officials to secure lucrative contracts. The indictment also accuses other individuals, including Ranjit Gupta and Rupesh Agarwal—former executives of a renewable energy company—and employees of a Canadian institutional investor, of violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The charges extend beyond financial fraud to include obstruction of investigations conducted by the FBI, the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Prosecutors allege that false and misleading statements were made to obtain billions of dollars from U.S. investors, undermining the integrity of international markets.

The Fallout for Gautam Adani’s Global Image

Reputation as a Business Leader

Gautam Adani, once celebrated as a visionary industrialist who played a pivotal role in transforming India’s infrastructure landscape, now finds his reputation under severe strain. His success story, often cited as an example of India’s entrepreneurial spirit, is now overshadowed by allegations of corruption and fraud. The charges cast doubt on the ethics and transparency of his business empire, which has a significant presence in sectors such as energy, logistics, and infrastructure.

Impact on Global Partnerships

The Adani Group has attracted significant international investments over the years, including partnerships with global financial institutions and multinational corporations. However, the unsealed indictment raises questions about the group’s governance practices and compliance with international laws. Potential investors may now view the Adani Group with caution, and existing partnerships could be reassessed or even dissolved.

Damaged Credibility in Financial Markets

The Adani Group’s credibility in financial markets is another casualty of this scandal. With accusations of defrauding U.S. investors, the group could face scrutiny from stock exchanges and regulatory bodies worldwide. This could lead to restricted access to international capital, higher borrowing costs, and a potential decline in stock valuations. For a conglomerate that relies heavily on debt to fund its ambitious projects, this could be a significant setback.

Global Media Scrutiny

The indictment has also drawn extensive media attention globally. Prominent outlets have highlighted the allegations, putting the Adani name under an unflattering spotlight. Negative press coverage can erode trust among stakeholders, including investors, customers, and partners. For a group with a substantial global footprint, this could translate into reduced influence and opportunities.

Broader Implications for India Inc.

The allegations against Gautam Adani and his associates extend beyond the individual and the Adani Group; they raise concerns about the broader reputation of Indian businesses. India has been striving to attract foreign investment by showcasing itself as a destination for ethical and transparent business practices. Cases like this could tarnish that image, leading to increased scepticism from global investors about engaging with Indian firms.

Legal and Financial Repercussions

Legal Battle Ahead

The defendants, including Gautam Adani, maintain their innocence and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. However, the legal process in the United States could be protracted and costly. A conviction could result in hefty fines, potential jail terms for the individuals involved, and significant reputational damage to the Adani Group.

Financial Consequences

The charges may also have direct financial repercussions. The group could face penalties from U.S. regulators and lawsuits from investors who feel deceived. Additionally, if convicted, the Adani Group might be barred from raising capital in the U.S. or participating in global financial markets, which could cripple its growth plans.

Public and Political Reaction

Public Sentiment in India

Back home in India, public opinion is divided. While some continue to support Gautam Adani, viewing the allegations as politically motivated, others see the charges as a confirmation of long-standing suspicions about the group’s dealings. The case has reignited debates about corporate governance and the need for stricter regulations in India.

Political Ramifications

The case has also created ripples in India’s political landscape. Gautam Adani is often seen as a close associate of the Indian government, and opposition parties have seized the opportunity to question the government’s stance on corporate accountability. This could lead to increased regulatory scrutiny of large Indian conglomerates.

The Road Ahead for the Adani Group

To recover from this scandal, the Adani Group will need to demonstrate transparency and accountability. This may include hiring independent auditors, cooperating fully with investigations, and implementing robust compliance mechanisms. However, rebuilding trust in global markets will take time and consistent effort.

Conclusion

The unsealing of criminal charges against Gautam Adani and other executives marks a watershed moment in the Adani Group’s history. The allegations have not only tarnished Gautam Adani’s personal reputation but have also raised serious questions about the group’s governance and business ethics. On a global level, the case has eroded trust in the Adani brand, posing significant challenges to its future growth and influence.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the case will serve as a litmus test for corporate accountability and transparency, not just for the Adani Group but for the broader Indian business ecosystem. Whether Gautam Adani can reclaim his standing as a global industrial leader remains uncertain, but the damage to his image and the Adani Group’s reputation is undeniable.

Gautam Adani is a prominent Indian industrialist and billionaire businessman, widely recognised as the Chairman and Founder of the Adani Group. Born on 24 June 1962 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Adani has become one of the most influential figures in the global business landscape, with his conglomerate spanning diverse sectors such as energy, infrastructure, logistics, and agriculture.

Early Life and Career

Gautam Adani grew up in a middle-class Jain family. His father was a textile merchant, but Adani had little interest in joining the family business. After completing his schooling in Ahmedabad, he enrolled in Gujarat University to study commerce but dropped out in his second year. Driven by entrepreneurial aspirations, he moved to Mumbai in the late 1970s, where he worked briefly in the diamond trading business.

His first significant entrepreneurial venture came in 1988, when he established Adani Exports Limited (now Adani Enterprises), focusing on commodity trading. This marked the beginning of his journey to build one of India’s largest business conglomerates.

Adani Group

Under his leadership, the Adani Group has grown into a multinational conglomerate with interests in key industries:

  • Energy: A leading player in coal trading, coal mining, renewable energy, and power generation.
  • Infrastructure: Operates ports, airports, and logistics parks, making it a crucial player in India’s infrastructure development.
  • Agriculture: Involved in agro-processing and storage.
  • Defence and Aerospace: Expanding into strategic sectors like defence manufacturing.

The group’s flagship project, Mundra Port in Gujarat, is India’s largest commercial port and a key milestone in Adani’s career.

Wealth and Global Recognition

Adani has been listed among the world’s richest individuals. His wealth surged dramatically in the 2020s due to the expansion of his businesses and his focus on renewable energy and infrastructure projects. At his peak, he was ranked as one of the top three richest people globally.

Controversies and Criticism

Gautam Adani’s rise has not been without controversy. He has faced criticism for:

  1. Environmental Concerns: Projects like coal mining and port developments have drawn backlash for their environmental impact.
  2. Debt Levels: The Adani Group’s growth has been funded largely through debt, raising concerns about financial stability.
  3. Political Connections: Adani’s perceived close ties with the Indian government, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have sparked allegations of preferential treatment.

The recent unsealing of criminal charges in the United States, accusing him and his executives of fraud and bribery, marks one of the most significant challenges to his reputation.

Philanthropy

Despite controversies, Gautam Adani has also contributed to philanthropy through the Adani Foundation, which works in education, health, and rural development. In 2022, he pledged to donate $7.7 billion to charitable causes, marking his commitment to social development.

Conclusion

Gautam Adani is a self-made billionaire whose influence extends across industries and geographies. While he is celebrated for his contributions to India’s infrastructure and economic growth, his career has also been marked by challenges and controversies. Whether admired or criticised, there’s no denying that Adani is one of the most impactful and debated figures in modern business.

CM Omar Abdullah Calls For Focus on Agriculture Varsities to Tackle Climate Change

Omar

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasized the critical role of agriculture in addressing climate change and improving the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. He was speaking at the inauguration of the four-day National Agriculture Summit & Farmers’ Fair-2024 at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), Jammu.
Highlighting the exigency of climate change, the Chief Minister said, “Climate change is a huge challenge, and the responsibility lies on SKUAST (Kashmir and Jammu) to address it and assist our farmers. We can no longer depend solely on rain and snowfall, as climate patterns have drastically shifted. For instance, in our childhood, snowfall would arrive in December; now, it comes in February. Our average temperatures are also rising. To adapt, we need to promote modern agricultural practices, introduce new techniques and technologies, and raise awareness among farmers.”
He lauded the progress made by SKUAST-Jammu in recent years, saying, “I felt elated on visiting SKUAST-Jammu. Since my last visit, the university has made remarkable progress, for which I congratulate the Vice-Chancellor and his entire team.”
The Chief Minister expressed concern over the neglect of agriculture in discussions about J&K’s development.“In Jammu and Kashmir, we find farmers in every corner, yet when we discuss progress, we focus on factories, tourism, and facilities for pilgrims at religious places. Sadly, the contribution of farmers and the agriculture and allied sectors often goes unnoticed,” he said.

He stressed the economic potential of agriculture and allied sectors, stating, “I firmly believe that focusing on these sectors can significantly transform J&K’s economy. We rely heavily on imports for many necessities, such as dairy products, meat, and oilseeds. Our efforts should aim to produce these locally through import substitution. If we achieve surplus production, we can sell it outside, leading to a positive shift in J&K’s economy.”

Omar Abdullah called for efforts to restore farming as a viable and respected livelihood for future generations.

“Our farmers must feel confident that their hard work on the land will generate income. However, it is disheartening that the younger generation is distancing itself from agriculture. Productive agricultural land is increasingly being used for non-agricultural purposes because our children hesitate to connect with agriculture and allied sectors. This mindset needs to change,” he lamented.

Speaking about Jammu’s agricultural potential, he said, “Multiple-farming, cultivating staple crops, and utilizing land for high-value products hold immense potential.Jammu is already renowned for its RS Pura Basmati, Rajma and Gucchi mushrooms from Kishtwar. Products like olives and exotic fruits, which were unheard of just a few years ago, are now becoming common in our homes. There is no scarcity of potential here.”
He further emphasized the importance of undertaking research and ensuring that its benefits reach every corner of J&K.

“The practical implementation of research is crucial, and the responsibility lies in ensuring that its benefits reach every corner of Jammu and Kashmir. Farmers must be informed about the advantages of these practices so that agriculture becomes productive and attractive, even for the younger generation.”

The Chief Minister also pledged his government’s unwavering support to SKUAST, saying, “This four-day program is an excellent initiative for farmers and visitors to learn and benefit from. My government will fully support and assist the university in its endeavors. We stand shoulder to shoulder with you, and you will always find our doors open to help this institution thrive.”
During the event, Omar Abdullah released several books on agriculture and research authored by various experts. He also felicitated progressive farmers from Jammu division for their contributions to the sector.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the National Agriculture Summit & Farmers’ Fair-2024 in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, Minister for Agriculture Production Javid Ahmad Dar, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu BN Tripathi, MLA RS Pura-Jammu South Dr. Narinder Singh Raina, and other dignitaries.

On the occasion, Omar Abdullah laid the foundation stone of the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development at the main campus of SKUAST-Jammu and planted saplings of various fruit plants alongside the Deputy CM, Agriculture Minister, MLA, and VC SKUAST-Jammu.

The Chief Minister also inspected stalls set up by agriculture and allied departments, interacting with staff and farmers. He inaugurated the Krishi Mela Rural Sports by blowing a whistle and witnessed a tug-of-war competition among boys and girls of different categories.

The event witnessed the participation of scholars, researchers, scientists, students, and progressive farmers, making it a significant platform for knowledge-sharing and capacity-building in agriculture.(KNS)

The Division of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Horticulture (FoH), SKUAST-K, Shalimar, conducted a one-day awareness and farmer-scientist interaction programme on the judicious use of pesticides under the HADP-18 project, “Minimization of Pesticide Use in Agriculture.”

The event, held at Arihal Pulwama, was organized in collaboration with the Departments of Horticulture and Agriculture to promote advanced pest and disease management strategies among farmers.

“Phone calls from various villages reveal electricity bills inflated by 50%. Even I am confused – did they promise to decrease electricity tariffs or increase them?” he questioned.Lone accused the NC-led government of employing “age-old trickery” by raising tariffs only to later offer waivers as a political gimmick.

“Imagine a household paying 100 in electricity fees. Instead of reducing it to 50 as promised, they hike it to 200, then waive 50, leaving the consumer paying 150 – still 50% more than before the elections. This isn’t relief; it’s deceit. Trust me, if they do it, I will not be surprised,” he said.

Calling on the Power Development Department to act immediately, Lone urged them to stop what he described as “arbitrary and unjustified” tariff hikes.

Radisson Golf Resort Pahalgam: Stunning Views, Lavish Stays, and Surprising Downsides!

Radisson Golf Resort

Nestled in the serene valleys of Kashmir, the Radisson Golf Resort Pahalgam promises to be a haven for travellers seeking tranquillity and natural beauty. With its prime location, breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains, and proximity to the famous Lidder River, the resort offers an idyllic retreat. However, like many luxury destinations, it also comes with its share of mixed reviews. From lavish amenities and memorable activities to service shortcomings, this resort encapsulates the duality of a premium yet imperfect stay.

A Dream Location: Nature at Its Finest

The Radisson Golf Resort Pahalgam is more than just a place to stay; it is an escape into nature’s lap. Situated at an altitude of 9,000 feet above sea level, the resort is surrounded by lush green valleys, dense forests of cedar and pine, and majestic snow-covered peaks. It enjoys a privileged position adjacent to the 18-hole Pahalgam Golf Course, making it an attractive destination for golf enthusiasts.

Adding to its charm, the gurgling Lidder River flows nearby, offering a soothing backdrop to your stay. The region’s beauty is unparalleled, with opportunities to explore verdant trails, picnic in meadows, and lose yourself in the tranquillity of the Overa Aru Wildlife Sanctuary. The resort’s setting makes it a perfect choice for nature lovers, honeymooners, and families seeking respite from the hustle of urban life.

Lavish Rooms with a Kashmiri Touch

The resort boasts 122 rooms and suites spread across nine blocks, all designed with a blend of modern aesthetics and authentic Kashmiri craftsmanship. The architecture reflects local culture, giving the property a unique identity amidst other luxury chains. Each room features bright interiors and large windows that open to stunning views of either the golf course, green valleys, or snow-capped peaks.

Guests can choose between standard rooms and upgraded suites, with the latter offering additional space, a separate living room, and premium amenities. All accommodations include air conditioning, cable TV, free Wi-Fi, and 24-hour room service. While the rooms are elegantly furnished, some guests have criticised their smaller-than-expected size, which might feel cramped for those travelling with families.

Culinary Delights: A Taste of Kashmir

Dining at the Radisson Golf Resort is an experience in itself. The resort offers several on-site restaurants, each catering to diverse tastes:

  1. Mumtaz and 1936: Both feature authentic Kashmiri cuisine, offering rich dishes like Rogan Josh, Yakhni, and Dum Aloo alongside international favourites.
  2. Tea Lounge & Deli: Perfect for light snacks, refreshing teas, and casual conversations amidst scenic surroundings.

Despite the variety and flavourful offerings, some guests have expressed dissatisfaction with slow service at the restaurants, especially during peak hours. This aspect detracts from the otherwise delightful culinary experience.

Activities to Immerse Yourself in Pahalgam

Beyond the confines of the resort, there’s a plethora of activities to indulge in:

  1. Golfing at High Altitudes
The adjacent Pahalgam Golf Course is a major draw, located 2,400 metres above sea level. Known for its challenging layout and breathtaking vistas, it offers golfers a memorable experience. Guests can rent equipment and enjoy light refreshments on-site.
  2. Trekking Adventures
Whether you’re an amateur hiker or an experienced trekker, Pahalgam’s trails have something for everyone. The resort organises guided trekking tours, enabling visitors to explore the pristine valleys and rugged mountain paths.
  3. Camping Under the Stars
For those seeking a more rustic adventure, the resort offers camping tours. Spending a night under the star-lit sky amidst Pahalgam’s natural beauty is an experience that few forget. Wellness and Relaxation

For relaxation, the resort features a spa and fitness centre. After a day of outdoor exploration, guests can unwind with rejuvenating spa treatments or work out at the gym. The lush gardens surrounding the property further add to its serene atmosphere, offering a perfect spot for yoga or meditation.

Hospitality and Service: A Mixed Bag

The Radisson brand is synonymous with exceptional hospitality, and the staff at the Pahalgam resort generally uphold this reputation. Known for their courteous and accommodating behaviour, the team ensures guests feel welcome. However, reviews reveal certain service shortcomings. Complaints include:

  • Slow room service, with delays in fulfilling basic requests.
  • Overpriced services that don’t always match the level of luxury expected.

For a property in this price range, such inconsistencies can leave a sour taste in an otherwise picturesque experience.

Exploring Pahalgam: Nearby Attractions

Radisson Golf Resort’s location makes it an ideal base for exploring Pahalgam’s renowned spots:

  • Aru Valley: A scenic spot known for its meadows and trekking trails.
  • Betaab Valley: Famous for its lush greenery and Bollywood film shoots.
  • Baisaran Hills: Often called “Mini Switzerland,” this spot offers breathtaking views and pony rides.
  • Local Market: Just a short distance from the resort, it’s perfect for picking up Kashmiri handicrafts and souvenirs.

Downsides to Consider

Despite its many positives, the Radisson Golf Resort Pahalgam isn’t without flaws. Here are some of the downsides frequently mentioned by guests:

  1. Room Size: Standard rooms can feel cramped, especially for larger groups.
  2. Service Delays: Slow service at restaurants and room service can be frustrating.
  3. Pricey for the Experience: While the location and views are top-notch, some feel the resort is overpriced for the level of service and amenities offered. Why Choose Radisson Golf Resort Pahalgam?

If you’re looking for a luxurious getaway amidst nature, this resort is undoubtedly a great choice. The stunning location, rich Kashmiri aesthetics, and abundance of activities make it worth considering. However, if attentive service and spacious rooms are high on your priority list, you might want to manage your expectations or explore other options.

Final Verdict

The Radisson Golf Resort Pahalgam is a blend of beauty and imperfection. It offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in Kashmir’s enchanting landscapes while enjoying modern comforts. For travellers willing to overlook its minor shortcomings, this resort can be the setting for unforgettable memories.

Urgent Appeal for Reconsideration of the Professor Extension Policy at the University of Kashmir

Open Letter to Omar Abdullah,

Hon’ble Omar Abdullah Sb
Chief Minister’s Secretariat,
Civil Secretariat Srinagar,
Jammu and Kashmir.

Subject: Reconsideration of the Professor Extension Policy at the University of Kashmir

Respected Sir,

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. My name is Dr Mehraj Ud Din Nadvi, and I am writing to express my heartfelt concerns regarding a policy at the University of Kashmir that significantly impacts the future of the youth in Jammu and Kashmir.

Currently, a regulation allows professors in various disciplines to extend their service from six months to three years after retirement. While I deeply respect the wisdom and experience that seasoned educators bring, this policy raises serious concerns about the opportunities available to the young, talented, and ambitious individuals of our region.

Jammu and Kashmir is home to countless capable young men and women, brimming with enthusiasm and eager to contribute to society. These individuals have devoted years to acquiring education and honing their skills, equipping themselves to make valuable contributions to our community. However, the extension of service for retired professors at the University of Kashmir restricts their opportunities, depriving them of the chance to secure positions where they can meaningfully contribute to the progress and development of our society.

In today’s fast-changing world, where fresh ideas and perspectives are essential, it is crucial to prioritise the employment of our youth. Extending the tenures of retired professors risks marginalising the very talent that has the potential to revitalise our institutions and propel our society forward.

As representatives of the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir, we respectfully urge you to reconsider this policy. Continuing it only perpetuates a cycle of underemployment that stifles the aspirations of young scholars and limits their prospects. Instead, we must create avenues for them to thrive, enabling their talents to flourish and enrich our community.

Thank you for your attention to this pressing matter. We have full confidence in your leadership and commitment to building a brighter future for all, where the young scholars of the University of Kashmir are afforded the opportunities they rightfully deserve.

With utmost respect,
Dr Mehraj Ud Din Nadvi

Awami Itehad Party Urges Government of India to Release Er Rashid Ahead of Parliament Session

er rashid

Awami Itehad Party (AIP) has made a fervent appeal to the Government of India (GoI) to release Party President Er. Rashid, the Member of Parliament from North Kashmir, ahead of the upcoming Parliament session scheduled to begin on November 25.

AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi emphasized that Er. Rashid’s electoral victory in 2024, achieved despite his continued incarceration in Tihar Jail since 2019, is a testament to the overwhelming trust and mandate he enjoys among the people of North Kashmir.

He highlighted that Er. Rashid’s win marks a significant moment in the democratic process, as it reflects the voice of those who continue to believe in his leadership and vision despite adverse circumstances.

“It has been the desire of the people of North Kashmir since 2019 that their issues should be represented by Er. Rashid in Parliament. Though he came close to victory in 2019, securing the second position, he made history in 2024 by winning from Tihar Jail.

This mandate is not just symbolic but a clear expression of the people’s will. The Government of India must respect this democratic mandate by ensuring his release before the commencement of the Parliament session,” said Inam Un Nabi.

The AIP Chief spokesperson further pointed out that democracy thrives on dialogue and representation and Er.

Rashid’s presence in Parliament would only enrich the discussions and provide a much-needed platform for the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Er. Rashid’s contributions as a grassroots leader and his consistent advocacy for human rights and justice besides rights for people of J&K, have resonated deeply with the people. His continued incarceration sends a negative message and undermines the democratic ethos of our nation. We appeal to the government to prioritize justice and fairness by releasing Er. Rashid to allow him to fulfill his duties as a Member of Parliament,” Inam added.

The AIP also called upon civil society, political leaders and human rights organizations to join in demanding Er. Rashid’s release, asserting that his presence in Parliament is not only a matter of personal justice but also an essential step towards addressing the concerns of his constituents.

As the Parliament session approaches, all eyes are now on the Government of India to see whether it will heed the call for justice and allow Er. Rashid to represent the people of North Kashmir, who have placed their unwavering faith in him despite the challenges of the past five years.(KNS).

JKNC President Farooq Abdullah Says on NC-Congress govt performance“Our government going very we”

Farooq Abdullah

Jammu Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Farooq Abdullah on Sunday said that the NC-Congress government in the Union Territory is doing ‘very well’ and assured of fulfilling all promises made in their election manifesto.

“Our government is going very well…we will fulfil the promises made in our manifesto in 5 years,” JKNC President Abdullah told reporters.

When asked about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti’s statement, asking JKNC to make its stand clear on article 370 he said, “… She should not make such statements…our manifesto is clear about this (Article 370) …”

Earlier on Saturday, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah reaffirmed his commitment to restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, expressing confidence that it will be achieved.

“How many days have passed since the new government was formed? How many weeks? Will the statehood come from the sky? I have no doubt that we will get the statehood,” Abdullah told reporters.

The state was bifurcated into two Union Territories following the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. Political parties in the state have been demanding early restoration of statehood.

Responding to ‘Katenge toh batenge”, Abdullah said that India will become strong when diversity is strengthened

“What does it mean? What is this slogan? I don’t understand what it means… What does ‘Katenge, batenge’ mean?… I don’t know. What are we if we are not one? Is India not one? India has unity in diversity. India will become strong when diversity is strengthened,” Abdullah added.

Farooq Abdullah also expressed grief over the loss of children in the Jhansi fire incident, urging the government to provide swift assistance and launch an investigation into the fire incident.

The tragedy unfolded when a fire, suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in an oxygen concentrator, quickly spread in the highly oxygenated environment of the NICU, claiming the lives of 10 newborns.

The tragedy has left grieving families devastated, with many still searching for their missing children. (ANI)
