Er Rashid’s father Critically ill

The health condition of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of jailed Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid (Er Rashid), has turned critical as he has been placed on ventilator support at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.

Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari visited the ailing patient on Friday and described his condition as “extremely serious”. He said Khazir Mohammad Sheikh is battling a critical illness and has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Leaders Appeal for Humanitarian Parole

Bukhari appealed directly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to grant parole to Engineer Rashid so that he can be with his ailing father and distressed family members during this difficult time.

Awami Itihaad Party (AIP), founded by Er Rashid, has moved an application for interim bail before the competent court. AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said the family is passing through an “extremely painful moment” as Khazir Mohammad Sheikh is “battling for his life”.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also visited the critically ill patient on Thursday and urged the Government of India to release Engineer Rashid on humanitarian grounds. “He is yearning to see his son… which could be their last meeting,” Mirwaiz said, adding that the silent suffering of political prisoners and their families is heartbreaking.

Background

Engineer Rashid, who won the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat in 2024 while in custody, has been lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail since his arrest by the NIA in a terror-funding case in August 2019. He was earlier granted limited custody parole to attend Parliament sessions.

Multiple Kashmir-based leaders have expressed concern and appealed for compassionate consideration so that the MP can meet his critically ill father.

Prayers have been pouring in from across the Valley for the speedy recovery of Khazir Mohammad Sheikh.

As of now, no decision has been taken on the interim bail or parole application.

May Allah grant complete shifa (recovery) to Khazir Mohammad Sheikh Sahab and strength to the family.
