Abdul Gani Vakil Slams Omar Abdullah Government Over Unemployment, Economic Distress in J&K

Abdul Gani Vakil

Senior Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) and former Cabinet Minister Abdul Gani Vakil has strongly condemned the present government for its complete failure to address unemployment, economic distress, and public welfare in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the ruling dispensation has failed to deliver even one percent of its election manifesto.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In a statement issued, He said unemployment continues to burn the youth from within, with thousands of qualified and educated young men and women left jobless. “Instead of initiating fresh recruitment drives, the government is terminating ad-hoc and contractual employees while re-employing retired officials. This anti-youth policy is deeply unjust and has shattered the aspirations of educated youth,” he asserted.

Abdul Gani Vakil said the Omar Abdullah–led government has miserably failed to honour its poll promises. “There is no free electricity, no gas support, no ration relief, and no marriage assistance—despite tall claims made during elections. Every promise has proved to be hollow and misleading. The people of Jammu and Kashmir feel completely deceived,” he remarked.

Appealing to the Union Government, the JKPC Senior Vice President demanded an immediate special recruitment drive exclusively for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that local youth must be given priority in all government jobs. He added that the mindset of J&K’s youth has positively shifted towards peace, development, and constructive engagement, but the government has failed to respond with meaningful and concrete action.

Highlighting severe economic neglect, Abdul Gani Vakil expressed grave concern over the absence of cold storage facilities and juice-processing units at Sopore Fruit Mandi, which has badly hit the horticulture sector. He warned that both the fruit industry and tourism sector are witnessing a sharp decline, putting the livelihoods of thousands of families at serious risk.

He further stated that nearly 60,000 daily wagers working in departments such as PHE, PDD, Forest, and other government departments are still awaiting regularization. “Despite rendering years of dedicated service, no serious steps have been taken to secure their future,” he said.

The JKPC leader also raised strong concern over the plight of ICDS and ASHA workers, who continue to work without timely and adequate salaries. “These workers form the backbone of grassroots welfare delivery, yet the government has failed to ensure even their basic rights,” he added.

Lashing out at the present dispensation, Abdul Gani Vakil said governance in Jammu and Kashmir has been reduced to mere rhetoric and press statements, while real development, employment generation, and public welfare remain missing on the ground. He urged the authorities to move beyond slogans and immediately take result-oriented steps to restore public confidence and address the genuine issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)

EOW Kashmir Files Chargesheet in Fake Government Job Scam Case Before Budgam Court

EOW Kashmir

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a chargesheet before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Budgam in connection with a fake government job scam.

The chargesheet relates to FIR No. 13/2023 registered under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused has been identified as Ghulam Nabi Hudda, son of Mohammad Hudda, originally from Satakchay, Kargil, and presently residing at Gasiyar Hawal, Zadibal, Srinagar.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

According to officials, the case began after a written complaint was received by the Crime Branch. The complainant alleged that in 2021 he came into contact with the accused, who falsely claimed to be a senior government officer.

The accused allegedly promised the complainant and several others that he could arrange government jobs in return for money. Trusting these assurances, the complainant deposited several lakhs of rupees into the accused’s bank account through nine separate transactions.

However, despite repeated promises, the accused neither arranged any government employment nor returned the money. The complainant later realised that he had been cheated.

Following the complaint, Economic Offences Wing Kashmir (earlier known as Crime Branch Kashmir) conducted a detailed investigation into the matter. During the probe, the allegations made by the complainant were found to be prima facie true.

Investigators concluded that the accused had deliberately deceived the complainant with dishonest intentions, causing him serious financial loss. The actions of the accused were found to clearly amount to the offence of cheating under Section 420 IPC.

After completing the investigation, EOW Kashmir submitted the chargesheet before the court for judicial consideration. Further legal proceedings in the case will now be decided by the court.

Mehbooba Mufti Calls India ‘Lynchistan’, Raises Alarm Over Rising Lynching Incidents

Mehbooba Mufti

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday expressed concern over the lynching of a labourer from West Bengal in Odisha’s Sambalpur and the death of a tribal MBA student, Angel Chakma, in Uttarakhand after an alleged assault and said that the atmosphere this time in the country is dangerous, fearful.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

She alleged that the India of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru has been turned into a ‘Lynchistan’.Speaking to reporters, Mehbooba Mufti said, “The atmosphere this time in the country is dangerous, fearful. You have seen when some of our Hindu brothers were lynched in Bangladesh, there was hue and cry, but when lynching happens in our own country, it starts with ‘Ikhlaq’ and doesn’t stop. The India of Gandhi and Nehru has been turned into a ‘Lynchistan’”

Earlier, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday also raised concerns about incidents of violence within India.

“On December 24, a labourer from West Bengal was lynched in Odisha’s Sambalpur. A tribal boy doing MBA in Uttarakhand was beaten up, Angel Chakma. He died. So these are all clear examples of how when the rule of law breaks and majority-run politics overtakes everything, these lynchings happen, which we have to condemn,” he added.

Owaisi also spoke on the recent developments in Bangladesh, calling for the protection of minorities and stressing the need for regional stability.

Speaking to ANI, Owaisi said his party strongly condemned the killing of Deepu Chandra Das and Amrit Mondal in Bangladesh and supported the steps being taken by the Government of India to maintain strong ties with the neighbouring country.

“As far as our party is concerned, we condemn what happened to Deepu Chandra Das and Amrit Mondal, and we support whatever steps the Government of India is taking to ensure that the relationship with Bangladesh remains stronger,” he said.

His remarks come after, earlier on Wednesday, the Daily Star reported that a Hindu youth identified as Amrit Mondal was lynched at Hosendanga village of Kalimohor union in Rajbari’s Pangsha sub-district over an extortion allegation.

The murder of Mondal took place days after the mob lynching and burning of the Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, in Bangladesh’s Mymensingh district.

A worker in a garment factory, Dipu Chandra Das, was beaten to death by a mob over alleged blasphemy charges and had his body hanged and set on fire on December 18.

The Daily Star, citing Mymensingh’s Additional Superintendent of Police, Abdullah Al Mamun, stated that a factory official had informed Bhaluka police that a group of workers attacked Dipu inside the factory, accusing him of making “derogatory remarks about the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH)” in a Facebook post.

However, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-14 Company Commander in Mymensingh, Md Samsuzzaman, told The Daily Star that investigators found no evidence suggesting the deceased had posted or written anything on Facebook that could have hurt religious sentiments. (ANI)
