The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has released the latest weather update for Jammu and Kashmir.

The department has also issued a dense fog advisory for the plains of the Jammu division. Moderate fog is likely to continue there for the next three days.

From January 7 to January 15, the weather is expected to stay partly cloudy across the region.

The weather is expected to take a turn from December 20-21, with light to moderate snow predicted over higher reaches of Kashmir division and light to moderate rain at many places in the plains of Jammu and Kashmir.

The 22nd of December may bring scattered light rain and snow, while the skies are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy from December 23-29.

The Met Centre Srinagar has issued a nowcast update for Jammu and Kashmir, warning of light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at many places across the region.

According to the update, intense showers can be expected at a few places for short periods, and the weather conditions are likely to prevail for the next 4-6 hours.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and stay safe during this period. The Met Centre has issued the following safety advisories:

Stay away from water channels, loose structures, and landslide-prone areas.Avoid boating and Shikara riding in Dal Lake and other water bodies.Stay inside safe shelters during thunderstorms and lightning.

The Met Centre Srinagar has issued a weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches from April 18-20.

There’s a possibility of moderate to heavy rain and snow at isolated to scattered places, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds from April 18 evening onwards till April 20 late afternoon.

On April 21, the region can expect generally cloudy skies with a possibility of light rain and thunder at scattered places. From April 22-28, the weather is expected to be generally dry.

All concerned are advised to plan accordingly and follow Admin/Traffic advisory. Farmers are advised to suspend farm operations during April 18-20 due to the expected weather conditions.

Weather Update: Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, has recorded the season’s lowest temperature again at minus 4.1 degree Celsius,.marking the coldest night here on Friday.As per the details, Shopian in South Kashmir, was the coldest place at minus 6.6 degree Celsius.

The Meteorological department has shared the details of minimum temperature, revealing that Srinagar has recorded a low of minus 4.1 degree Celsius against previous night’s minus 2.1 degree Celsius.

Furthermore, Shopian was the coldest place in Kashmir where the mercury settled at minus 6.6 degree Celsius.Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination recorded a low of minus 6.5 degree Celsius while Gulmarg, a famous ski-resort recorded a low of minus 4.3 degree Celsius.

Also, Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 4.4 degree Celsius while Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded minus 3.4 degree Celsius.Kokernag in South Kashmir recorded a low of minus 2.4 degree Celsius.
