LG Sinha said the Srinagar Smart City initiative focuses on protecting the city’s traditional character while improving public spaces and connectivity. He added that development does not mean losing heritage, but strengthening it with modern planning.
“Under the Smart City project, special attention has been given to combining Srinagar’s old heritage with modern amenities so that a vibrant and cultural space is created for everyone,” he said.
He also expressed hope that once major Smart City projects are completed, the historical link between Srinagar and Shehr-e-Khaas will be revived, bringing people closer to the city’s roots.
Officials said the redeveloped Amira Kadal now stands as a symbol of Srinagar’s rich history and its move towards modern urban development, offering better connectivity and a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.
