The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir has placed senior IPS officer Sanjeev Kumar Khajuria under immediate suspension pending a detailed enquiry into allegations of financial irregularities.
According to Government Order No. 185-Home of 2026 dated March 25, 2026, Khajuria — who was serving as Commandant of JKAP-4 Security Battalion and holding additional charge as Commandant, 1st Border Battalion Jammu — faces charges of misappropriation of General Provident (GP) funds and irregularities in income tax deductions of police personnel under his command in the JKAP-4 Security Battalion. The order, issued by the Home Department, states that during the period of suspension, the officer will remain attached to the Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir.
News agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) first reported the development, quoting official sources. An enquiry has been initiated to ascertain the full extent of the alleged financial discrepancies and to fix responsibility. Further disciplinary action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
This is the latest in a series of strict administrative actions taken by the J&K administration against officers involved in alleged financial misconduct. Khajuria, a 2012-batch IPS officer (confirmed from previous postings), had been recently handling security-related battalions in the Union Territory.
Official sources confirmed that the suspension order has been communicated to all concerned departments, and the enquiry is expected to be completed at the earliest.No comment was immediately available from the suspended officer or his representatives.
