2 Killed, 29 Injured After Bus Overturns Following Collision With SUV in Jammu

Two persons were killed while around 29 others sustained injuries after a passenger bus overturned after collision with an SUV on the Jourian-Akhnoor road on the outskirts of Jammu city on Monday, officials said.

The accident took place at Kotgarhi area when the bus, on its way to Akhnoor from the border area of Jourian, and said to be travelling at a high speed, collided head-on with a Scorpio vehicle. The impact caused the bus to skid off the road and overturn, they said.Two persons died on the spot, while 29 others sustained injuries, officials said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Locals and police rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. Eleven injured persons were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Akhnoor, while 18 others were taken to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu for treatment, they said.

GMC Principal Dr Ashutosh Gupta said two persons were brought dead. The injured admitted to the hospital are stable and none appear to be in critical condition.Police have taken cognisance of the incident and further investigation is underway, officials said.
