Omar Abdullah Says NC-Cong alliance takes lead in early trends ,BJP shouldn’t try tricks

omar abdullah

As counting of the votes polled in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election began, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday warned the BJP not to pull off any tricks if the mandate of the people is against them.

He also exuded confidence in the win of the NC-Congress alliance in the election.“We have the hope that we will win. The decision has been made by the voters of Jammu and Kashmir, and we will get to know it by today afternoon,” Omar Abdullah told reporters here.

“There should be transparency. If people’s mandate is against BJP, they shouldn’t pull off any tricks,” he added. He said that his party made an alliance with Congress to win the election. Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the election after a gap of ten years. However, Omar Abdullah said its still early to say if they will need support of parties like the PDP.

” Neither have we asked for any support from them nor have we received any support…let the result come. Not sure why we are so restless, let the result come, right now nobody has the number…right now we are not in need (of their support) …once the result is out, we will analyse,” he said.

The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Congress, partners in the INDIA alliance, jointly contested the assembly elections while the PDP and BJP fought the elections on their own.

Congress candidate from Bahu Assembly seat, TS Tony said, “Congress-NC alliance is going to form the government with 2/3 majority. Earlier people trusted only statements. Now, all the lies are exposed…The people know everything now. This was the city of temples. BJP made it the city of liquors. They say that it is for revenue generation… The people are frustrated with the liquor and land mafia…They are exposed now. The public doesn’t trust them anymore…BJP is murdering the democracy. The appointment of 5 MLAs had to be done by the elected government. Even the President does not have this power of direct appointment. How can the LG have this arbitrary power?”

The J-K assembly election for 90 constituencies was held over three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. (ANI)

Exude Confidence in Victory in JK and Haryana polls Congress workers begin early celebration

congress workers

Congress workers gathered outside the party headquarters on Tuesday morning and raised slogans in support of the party on the counting day for Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.

Exuding confidence in the party’s victory, the Congress workers said that the belief in the party’s success is a result of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra initiatives, which advocate for farmers, women, and laborers while promoting inclusivity across all castes and religions and resonating well with the public.

Speaking to ANI, Congress worker Jagdish Sharma said, “I think the entire country is congratulating us.

Even people from BJP are congratulating us. This is the triumph of victory and defeat of lies. People are liking Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra, and his speaking up for farmers, women and labourers and pushing every caste and religion forward. We are winning Haryana and JK. People are liking Rahul Gandhi. The time is up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government”

Meanwhile, the counting of votes for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana has begun on Tuesday at 8 am.

The J-K assembly election for 90 constituencies was held over three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1, respectively. Meanwhile, polling for the 90 seats of the Haryana Assembly ended on October 5.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday expressed confidence in forming the government for the third time in the state adding that the BJP has worked with honesty whereas Congress did a lot of corruption.

Hitting out at the opposition, the Haryana CM said that the Congress works for power while the BJP works for service.

“Today is the day of counting and I am confident that as a result of the works done by the BJP government in the past ten years, we will be forming the government in Haryana for the third time. Our government will continue to serve the people of Haryana. Congress works for power, BJP works for service,” the Chief Minister said to the reporters.

Nayab Singh offered prayers at Shri Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple located in Brahma Sarovar ahead of the counting of votes for the Haryana assembly elections.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal stated that 93 counting centres have been set up for 90 assembly constituencies in 22 districts of the state.

Two counting centres each have been set up for the Badshahpur, Gurugram, and Pataudi assembly constituencies, while one counting centre each has been established for the remaining 87 assembly constituencies, where the counting will take place. To monitor the counting process, 90 counting observers also have been appointed by the Election Commission.

A meeting was held to review the counting preparedness with Deputy Commissioners/District Election Officers, to provide instructions for ensuring a well-organized counting process on October 8.

Accurate information on each round of counting will be uploaded in a timely manner, a release said.
Meanwhile in JK, amid speculation over possible permutations and combinations for government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday express hope for positive outcome.

“Here’s wishing all my colleagues and allies the very best of luck for today. We fought the good fight and now, InshaAllah, the results will reflect that.” he said.
The Election Commission of India said that an overall 63.88 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The poll panel said that a voter turn of 69.69 percent was recorded in the third phase held on October 1.

The security has been heightened at a counting centre in Jammu.

On the day of the counting, the strong rooms will be opened in the presence of candidates, their authorized representatives, Returning Officers (ROs)/Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), and ECI observers, with videography conducted. Mobile phones will not be allowed inside the counting centres.

During the process, only authorized individuals, officials, or staff will be permitted inside and around the counting centres.

People and political party representatives have been requested not to crowd the counting centres and check the results at home. The results will be available on the Election Commission of India’s website http://results.eic.in/ and through the Voter Helpline App.

Exit polls have predicted that Congress is poised to win Haryana and that the National Conference-Congress alliance has an edge in Jammu and Kashmir.

The results are likely to reflect political sentiments as parties gear up for upcoming electoral battles in Maharashtra, Jharkhand. (ANI)

Put Govt formation on hold till Centre restores Statehood to J&K,AIP would extend full support if all get united: Er Rashid

Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid

Awami Itehad Party chief and the North Kashmir Member Parliament Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid on  Monday suggested the political parties and independents who would emerge victorious tomorrow not to form the government in J&K until the Government of India restores the Statehood.

He said AIP would extend full support if all get united on this advice.

“I have a humble suggestion to all political parties and independent candidates who would win elections tomorrow to put government formation on hold till Centre restores Statehood to J&K,” the North Kashmir MP said. “If all agree to my suggestion, AIP would also extend full support to this proposal.”

Er Rashid also said that age-old darbar move practice should be resumed for the larger status of people of both regions. “The administration claims that it has saved the J & K exchequer from a huge burden by abolishing the Darbar Move practice but the fact remains that people of both regions are suffering. We demand this practice should be resumed,” he said.

The North Kashmir MP also said that he was in Delhi a few days ago where he was J&K House Delhi being exclusively kept reserved for the people of Ladakh UT. “Is this justice? I want to ask the Government of India what was the criteria used to distribute properties of J&K in Delhi and the rest of the country. Ladakh has only 4 to 5 lakh population and for them you have kept J&K House, while J&K has over 2 crore population, where would the people go if they need to travel out of J&K for treatment, travel and jobs,” Er asked.

To a query if BJP wins majority in Jammu and NC in Kashmir, to which party AIP would extend support, Er Rashid said that his priority wasn’t government formation and only safeguarding the interests of J&K. On five nominated members by the J&K Administration, he said. “By nominating members of its own, the J&K administration is damaging and challenging the very idea of BJP and PM Narendera Modi: Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan. How can Delhi people nominate members for J&K Assembly when poll results are yet to be out,” the North Kashmir MP said. Er Rashid is out on bail till October 12. He has served detention in New Delhi’s Tihar for five and a half years—(KNO)
