Tarun Chugh Meets Dalai Lama in Ladakh, Reaffirms India’s Commitment to Peace, Ahimsa, and Buddhist Heritage

Dalai Lama

In a significant spiritual and symbolic gesture, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh met with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on Tuesday in Ladakh. The meeting, steeped in reverence and mutual respect, underscored India’s enduring civilisational commitment to peace, compassion, religious freedom, and the preservation of Buddhist heritage.

A Meeting of Souls and Civilisations

The encounter between Chugh and the Dalai Lama was more than a political or ceremonial visit—it reflected India’s timeless role as a sanctuary for seekers of truth, ahimsa (non-violence), and karuna (compassion). The Dalai Lama, who has been living in exile in India since 1959, acknowledged this bond during the meeting.

“Since coming into exile from Tibet in 1959, we have received immense support and assistance from the Government of India. It is thanks to India’s generosity that we have been able to preserve our unique identity, language, and cultural heritage, deeply rooted in the principles of ahimsa and karuna,” the Dalai Lama stated in a heartfelt message.

Chugh: “India’s Spiritual DNA Reflects in the Dalai Lama”

Tarun Chugh described the Dalai Lama as not only a globally respected spiritual leader but also a “living embodiment of India’s civilisational values.”

“His message of compassion, universal brotherhood, and spiritual strength resonates with the soul of India,” said Chugh. “Meeting him in Ladakh is a reminder that India’s strength lies not only in its economy or military, but in its unwavering moral and spiritual foundation.”

Modi’s Leadership and the Preservation of Buddhist Legacy

Chugh went on to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to safeguarding and promoting India’s Buddhist heritage, both domestically and on the global stage.

“Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has stood firm on its ancient promise of being a sanctuary for seekers of truth and justice,” he said. “Modi Ji is not only working to uplift the lives of citizens but also ensuring the protection of our Buddhist legacy, keeping alive the values of Bhagwan Buddha for generations to come.”

Citing PM Modi’s initiatives like the revival of Buddhist pilgrimage sites, international conferences on Buddhism, and infrastructural support in regions like Ladakh, Chugh said India is living up to its civilisational dharma, not just a policy mandate.

Ladakh: A Sacred Frontier

Chugh also highlighted the unique role of Ladakh as a confluence of Buddhist wisdom, national pride, and strategic importance.

“Ladakh is not just a frontier on the map—it is a spiritual heartland where Indian civilisation meets Buddhist thought. This region reflects the soul of India, where silence is sacred and every monastery echoes centuries of wisdom,” he noted.

Reaffirming India’s Role in a Troubled World

Emphasizing the broader implications of his meeting with the Dalai Lama, Chugh said that India has a timeless duty to protect torchbearers of truth, ahimsa, and dharma in a world increasingly plagued by violence, polarization, and spiritual emptiness.

“This meeting is not merely symbolic—it is a reaffirmation of our civilisational promise to protect spiritual heritage, stand with oppressed communities, and offer light in dark times,” he said.

Conclusion

The meeting between Tarun Chugh and the Dalai Lama in Ladakh stands as a reminder that India’s greatest contributions to the world are not material, but moral and spiritual. As global challenges mount—from violence and war to climate crisis and cultural erasure—India continues to uphold the flame of non-violence, inclusivity, and spiritual resilience.

The message was clear: In the land of the Buddha, under the gaze of the Himalayas, India reaffirms its eternal role as a beacon of peace and protector of the sacred.

Omar Abdullah Demands Accountability for Pahalgam Attack That Killed 26, Cites Intelligence Failure

Accountability for Pahalgam Attack

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Tuesday that someone has to be held responsible for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, mostly tourists, following religious profiling.

“Who is responsible for this failure? If it is an intelligence failure, then who is responsible for this? It is not possible that 26 people lost their lives and there is no response from our side. Now that we know that there has been a failure in security and intelligence, someone has to be held responsible,” CM Omar told reporters while calling for fixing accountability for the deadly attack.

On July 10, LG Manoj Sinha said that Jammu and Kashmir was witnessing a transformation that, according to many, is unprecedented even in the past fifty years and is a precedent to the fact that “terrorism will not sustain here.”

He said, “A significant and profound transformation has taken place in Kashmir. I have completed five years, but people say that even in the last fifty years, such a change has never occurred. On April 22, when innocent civilians were targeted in Pahalgam, the way Kashmir rose against the barbarism, against terrorism, against Pakistan, I believe such a moment has never occurred in history. This clearly shows us that terrorism will not be able to sustain itself here.”

On April 22, terrorists attacked a group of tourists in the scenic town of Pahalgam in south Kashmir.

India launched Operation Sindoor early on May 7 and hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India repelled subsequent Pakistani military aggression and pounded its airbases.

India and Pakistan agreed to a cessation of hostilities following a call made by Pakistan’s DGMO to his Indian counterpart. (ANI)

BJP MLAs Protest Urdu Language Requirement in Naib Tehsildar Recruitment, Call Move Discriminatory

BJP protests

All BJP MLAs staged a strong protest outside the Civil Secretariat in Jammu, opposing the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to make Urdu a mandatory subject in the recruitment process for the post of Naib Tehsildar. The protest was led by the Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly and J&K BJP General Secretary, Sh. Sunil Sharma.

The BJP MLAs condemned the move as discriminatory and unjust, calling it a deliberate attempt by the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government to ignore the aspirations of the youth of Jammu and other non-Urdu-speaking regions.

Speaking to the media,  Sunil Sharma said that this policy amounts to grave injustice against deserving candidates who are otherwise qualified but are being excluded based on language preference.

“This is not just about language. This is about rights, opportunities, and equal treatment. Urdu is one of the official languages of Jammu & Kashmir, but it is not the only one. Why should proficiency in Urdu be made mandatory when there are several other official languages recognized by the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir?” asked Sharma.

The BJP MLAs asserted that they had already exhausted all peaceful and democratic means to oppose the decision. “We submitted memorandums, led delegations, and even met with the Lieutenant Governor. Though the LG acknowledged our concern, he stated that the recruitment matter falls under the purview of the state government,” said BJP MLAs.

MLAs highlighted that the Chief Minister had previously assured BJP representatives that the issue would be looked into, but no action followed. “This betrayal of public trust has left us with no option but to protest,” they said.

MLAs also criticized the Chief Minister for allegedly playing the victim card while failing to perform his basic duties. “Instead of solving the problems of the people, he is more concerned about enjoying the privileges of office. The youth of Jammu and Kashmir deserve a fair and transparent recruitment process, not political manipulation,” they said.

The BJP MLAs warned that if the government continues to turn a deaf ear to the people’s demands, the protest will escalate. “Today’s protest is a symbolic message. We are prepared to take the agitation to the next level if the NC government does not immediately revoke the Urdu language requirement in the Naib Tehsildar recruitment,” Sharma concluded.

Omar Abdullah Defies Curbs, Visits Martyrs’ Graveyard with NC Leaders; Questions Restrictions Imposed on July 13

Omar Abdullah

A day after political leaders were stopped from visiting Mazaar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar due to restrictions, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, provisional president Showkat Mir and other senior leaders visited the site to offer prayers and pay homage to the martyrs of July 13, 1931.

The Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the administration had imposed curbs on political movement, and he and his party colleagues were not allowed to offer Fatiha on Sunday. “According to their clear instructions, we were not allowed to come here and read the Fatiha,” he said. “Everyone was kept in their homes early in the morning.”

Omar Abdullah said that when movement was slowly allowed, he contacted the control room and expressed his intention to visit. “Within minutes, a bunker was set up outside my gate and it was not removed till midnight,” he said.

He said on Monday, he chose not to inform the authorities before visiting the Mazaar. “Without informing them, I sat in the car and they tried to stop us even today,” he said, adding that a CRPF bunker and police vehicle were placed at Navata Chowk to block their way.

“They tried to stop us, they tried to catch us, they tried to tear our flag,” he said. “These policemen who wear uniforms sometimes forget the law.”

Omar Abdullah questioned the legal grounds for the restrictions. “According to which law did they try to stop us today?” he asked. “They say this is a free country, but they think we are their slaves. We are not anyone’s slaves. If we are servants, then we are the servants of the people here.”

He said the visit to the Mazaar-e-Shuhada was ultimately successful. “We came, we read the Fatiha,” he said. “These people have a misunderstanding. These graves are not here only on July 13. They are here all year long — July 12, July 14, December, January, February.”

He also said that the party would continue to visit the site whenever they chose to. “How long will they stop us? We will come here whenever we want. And we will remember these martyrs,” he said.(KNS).
