Anantnag Police on Thursday attached immovable property linked to a case involving arms, explosives, and narcotics registered at Police Station Mattan.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC reads, Anantnag Police has attached immovable property in narco-terror case.

The property attachment has been carried out in connection with FIR No. 57/2024, registered under Sections 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act, 13, 18, 39 of the UA(P) Act, Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Mattan, it reads.

Statement reads that, the attached property comprises land measuring 3 Kanals and 6 Marlas, falling under Khasra No. 283 Min, Khewat No. 16, and Khata No. 155, located at Sangam Bijbehara. The land is registered in the name of Iqra Mushtaq, D/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, R/o Hugam, Srigufwara, Anantnag. She is the niece of the accused Firdous Ahmad Bhat.

This action has been taken under due legal process and is part of the ongoing crackdown on individuals and properties linked with unlawful and anti-national activities, it reads.

The Anti Corruption Court Doda convicted two Engineers of Roads and Building (R&B) department in a trap case.

According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the spokesman said that the Judge, Anti-Corruption Court Doda, Archana Charak, convicted two Engineers—Syed Ikhlaq Hussain Peer, AEE, and Raja Faisal, JE—both then posted in PWD (R&B) West Sub Division Doda, in FIR No. 14/2011 under Section 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and Sections 120-B & 161 RPC registered at Police Station VOJ (now ACB).

The court sentenced each accused to rigorous imprisonment for one year and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 120-B RPC; rigorous imprisonment for one year and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 161 RPC; and rigorous imprisonment for one year and a fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006.

“The case was registered on the complaint of a contractor who had completed blacktopping work on the Doda–Ganeka road. While 75% payment had been released, the accused officers demanded illegal gratification of Rs 45,000 for the release of the remaining amount, thereby harassing the complainant,” the statement reads.

It added that a trap was accordingly laid at Doda City, during which Raja Faisal, JE, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 45,000 in the presence of independent witnesses.

He was arrested on the spot, and further investigation revealed the involvement of Syed Ikhlaq Hussain Peer, AEE.

After completion of investigation, a charge sheet was filed before the Court, which, after trial, convicted both accused and awarded the above sentence, the statement added—(KNO)

The State Investigation Agency on Tuesday arrested a key narcotic smuggler who was wanted in a narco-terror case and was evading arrest for the last 3 years.

In a statement, issued to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the SIA the accused Zafraan Khan of Uri was apprehended from Kathua district and his arrest marks a severe blow to narco-terror module backed by Pakistani based terror handlers.

The statement reads that this module was involved in smuggling of narcotic substances through LoC Uri sector and subsequent transportation and sale in both the Kashmir valley and Jammu region.

“Sale proceeds of these narcotic substances were later channelised to sustain the waning terrorism in J&K. The arrest pertains to a case registered under FIR No. 13/2022, U/S 8/21,29 NDPS act 13, 17, 18, 38, 40 of UA(P) Act which pertains to the recovery of 01 kg Heroine, 07 Kg Poppy Straw and 04 Kg Poppy seeds. The charge sheet in this case has already been filed against 5 members of this module. This arrest would help SIA track forward and backward linkages in this case,” it reads.

It added that over the months, SIA Kashmir has intensified its crackdown against narco-terror networks across the Kashmir valley. “Just last week, another notorious terror handler Abdul Rashid Bhat who was absconding for more than 2 years was arrested from Pulwama. The results of these crackdown highlights the unrelenting efforts from SIA Kashmir in their quest towards dismantling the terror ecosystem,” it further reads—(KNO)

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday sid to have arrested a drug peddler with 95 kg contraband in Anantnag district.

A Police spokesperson said that acting on specific and reliable information, a police team from Police Station Aishmuqam, under the close supervision of SDPO Pahalgam, conducted a successful raid at a rented accommodation in Grendash area, currently occupied by Mukhtar Ahmed Boked, S/O Rafiq Ahmed, R/O Jammu (Presently at Grendash).

The raid, carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, led to the seizure of 06 bags of narcotic substance (Fukki) — including 03 bags of grinded Fukki and 03 bags of Fukki pods, with a total weight of approximately 95 kilograms.

During the operation, one individual, identified as Parvez Ahmed Boked, S/O Bashir Ahmad Boked, R/O Ainobra, was apprehended on the spot. The primary suspect, Mukhtar Ahmed Boked, is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to track and apprehend him at the earliest.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 62/2025 under sections 8/15-29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Aishmuqam, and further investigation is in progress to unearth the entire network involved in the illegal trade.

In a major action against drug-related offences, District Police Srinagar, Police Station Zadibal, today attached a one-storey residential house constructed on 5 marlas 08 sft of land at Lachmanpora, Dandairkha Batamaloo.

The property attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 01/2025 U/S 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act, in the presence of SHO Batamaloo and Naib Tehsildar South.

Authorities have categorically stated that the property cannot be sold, leased, purchased, mortgaged, transferred, rented, renovated, or altered. The owner has also been barred from creating any third-party interest in the said property.

Police officials said that this action is part of the continuing crackdown on drug peddling and trafficking in Srinagar, aimed at dismantling the assets and networks of those involved in narcotic-related offences.

In a major crackdown on food adulteration, Ganderbal Police on Friday registered two separate FIRs against a stockist and a food sale point after recovering rotten meat products and expired eatables unfit for human consumption.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency Kashmir News Corner, In order to ensure safety of public health, Ganderbal Police have registered 02 FIR’s against stockiest and food sale points for storage and sale of rotten mutton items and other eatables.

Ganderbal Police received reliable information that a person was allegedly selling rotten and unhygienic meat in frozen form, which was highly unfit and unsafe for human consumption, at Kondabal Safapora, it reads.

Acting swiftly on the information, a special team of PS Safapora along with the Food Safety Officer, Ganderbal and the Executive Magistrate reached the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the shop belonging to Abdul Hameed Lone S/o Ghulam Hassan Lone R/o Kondabal, statement reads.

During the search, a considerable quantity of boiled meat items (Rista & Kabab) were recovered, which were found in frozen, rotten, and unhygienic conditions, making them clearly unfit for human consumption it reads.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 14/2025 U/S 271, 272,274 & 275 BNS stands registered at Police Station Safapora, the accused has been arrested and investigation has been taken up, it reads.

Moreover, Police Station Ganderbal received an information that Owner of Hotel Matamal Food Sale Point located at Beehama is using expired eatable items in cooking food, statement reads.

After receiving information, the Police Party of PS Ganderbal reached at the said location and during search, Expired eatable items were seized from the kitchen of the said food Sale Point, it reads.

Accordingly, Case FIR No. 145/ 2025 U/S 271, 272, 274, 275 BNS stands registered and the accused has been arrested, investigation taken up, it reads.

Ganderbal Police assures the public that strict action will continue against such anti-public health practices, and those found involved in endangering the health and safety of people will be dealt with sternly under law, reads the statement. (KNC)

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday ordered the termination of two government employees from Kupwara district over their alleged involvement with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The dismissed employees have been identified as Khurshid Ahmed Rather (KAR), a teacher posted in Karnah, and Siyad Ahmad Khan (SAK), an Assistant Stockman in the Sheep Husbandry Department, Keran. Officials said that the action followed the recovery of “incriminating material evidence” by law enforcement and intelligence agencies establishing their links with LeT operatives.

A senior official confirmed that the terminations were carried out under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution of India, which empowers the government to dismiss employees without inquiry if it is deemed necessary in the interest of state security.

  • Khurshid Ahmed Rather (KAR):
    • Appointed in 2003 as Rehbar-e-Taleem, confirmed as teacher in 2008.
    • Under suspension since his arrest on 26 January 2024; currently lodged in Kupwara District Jail.
    • Police records list him as an Over Ground Worker (OGW) of LeT.
    • Accused of helping Pakistani LeT operatives smuggle arms, ammunition, and explosives across the border.
    • Case registered under FIR No. 07/2024, Police Station Karnah.
    • Recovery of arms included 5 MP5 rifles, AK-47 rifle, pistols, magazines, and ammunition, some based on his own disclosure.
  • Siyad Ahmad Khan (SAK):
    • Allegedly acted as an LeT associate, conducting activities covertly.
    • On 12 January 2024, intercepted at Peer Baba Shrine, Keran, while allegedly on a mission to supply arms to LeT terrorists.
    • Recovery included one AK-47, one pistol, pistol magazine, and ammunition.
    • Booked under FIR No. 02/2024, Police Station Keran.

Broader Crackdown

The J&K administration has intensified its scrutiny of government employees suspected of militant links. Since 2021, dozens have been dismissed under Article 311 to ensure state security.

Officials said both cases highlighted a “deliberate and dangerous role” played by the accused in furthering LeT’s objectives, undermining the sovereignty of India and threatening peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

Continuing its crackdown against the menace of drugs, Kupwara Police arrested four drug peddlers in separate actions and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.

A police spokesperson said a checkpoint was established at Halpal road near Masjid Murshideen, where two suspicious individuals tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. During checking, heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. They were identified as Umair Ibn Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Regipora, and Kashif Ul Islam, son of Mohd Sultan Bhat, resident of Batergam.

In another action, a police party from PS Lalpora intercepted two individuals during naka checking at Rangward. A considerable quantity of charas-like substance was recovered from them. They were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat, resident of Krusan, and Aabid Shafi Mir, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Dharamwari.

All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation is underway.

The J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to curb the menace of drugs in the Valley and appealed to the public for cooperation in eradicating the threat from society.

ammu and Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau registered a case in connection with misappropriation of government funds and tampering in J&K Paysys in the Accounts Section of the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir.

A spokesperson said that On receipt of a written complaint, a preliminary enquiry was conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, which revealed that public servants posted in the Accounts Section, namely Javed Ahmad Bhat, Junior Assistant (then In-charge Bill Clerk) and Tawseef Dilshad Zargar, MTS (then Assistant to Bill Clerk), fraudulently manipulated the Government’s sensitive software J&K PaySys. They altered the account numbers of legitimate agencies in whose favour payments were due, replacing them with their own bank account numbers or those of their close relatives. Through this manipulation, the accused facilitated the illegal transfer of government funds into their own accounts and those of their family members, thereby misappropriating public money to the tune of lakhs of rupees.

The enquiry further established that the accused public servants, by abusing their official positions and acting in well-knit conspiracy with each other and others, fraudulently conferred undue pecuniary benefits upon themselves at the cost of the government exchequer.

The acts of omission and commission on their part constitute offences punishable under Sections 7, 13(1)(a) & 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and Sections 120-B, 420, 467 of IPC. Accordingly, FIR No. 16/2025 has been registered against 1. Javed Ahmad Bhat, Junior Assistant (then In-charge Bill Clerk), S/o Late Ghulam Hassan Bhat, R/o Sheikh Mohallah, Brein, Nishat, Srinagar 2. Tawseef Dilshad Zargar, MTS (then Assistant to Bill Clerk), S/o Late Dilshad Ahmad Zargar, R/o Chowdrigund, Shopian and Others involved in the misappropriation and forgery in J&K Paysys.

The investigation of the case has been taken up.

Acting tough against the social crimes, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday have arrested eight gamblers in Tral and seized stake money from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that acting on a specific information regarding gambling activities at Bajwani Tral, a police party led by SHO PS under the supervision of SDPO Tral Shri Rajesh Kumar raided the specific spot and arrested eight gamblers. They have been identified as Mohd Abdullah Malla son of Ab Khaliq Malla resident of Shilvat Sonawari, Bandipora, Mohd Ashraf Mir son of Gh Mohd Mir resident of Dadsara, Tral, Tanveer Ahmad Wani son of Mohd Yaqoob Wani resident of Haal Mughalpora, Shopian, Aashiq Hussain Sofi son of Gh Mohd Sofi resident of Saidakadal, Srinagar, Aasif Bashir Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir resident of Hawal Jogiwan, Srinagar, Arshid Ahmad Shah son of Gh Mohi-ud-Din Shah resident of Nowhatta, Srinagar, Mohd Rafiq Rather son of Gh Ahmad Rather resident of Achambal Panthachowk and Ajaz Ahmad Shah son of Ab Hamid Shah resident of Tashwan, Zainakadal Srinagar.

Officers have seized stake money of Rs. 1,67,000/- and playing cards from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 108/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Tral and further investigation has been initiated.

Person found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per the law. General public is requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
