Srinagar Police has arrested a drug dealer of New Delhi in connection with investigation of a drug peddling case wherein drugs were delivered by courier.

A Spokesperson said that During investigation of the narcotics case registered under FIR No 01/2025 U/S 8/21-29 NDPS Act in Karan Nagar Police station, involvement of Mohammad Zaid son of Mohammad Jameel resident of Okhla Vihar, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi surfaced, who was arrested in the instant case. Police has obtained his remand from the competent court.

Police Arrested Sahil Shafi Bhat and Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai With Suspected Brown Sugar During Naka Checking in Srinagar

Police on Sunday said to have arrested two individuals during a routine naka checking at Tengpora Srinagar near Bund and recovered a brown sugar-like substance from their possession, officials said.

A Police official told that during patrolling, a vehicle bearing registration number JK05L/7039 was stopped for checking.Upon searching, 4 grams of a brown sugar-like substance were recovered from the occupants.

He identified the arrested individuals as Sahil Shafi Bhat, son of Mohammad Shafi Bhat, a resident of Butkout Handwara, and Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganai, a resident of Baakihaker Handwara.

He said, following the recovery, an FIR No. 18/2025 under sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batamaloo, and further investigation is underway.

In its ongoing mission to eliminate the scourge of drugs from society, Srinagar Police has arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that Police team of Police Post Noorbagh at a checkpoint established at Noorbagh Chowk, intercepted a vehicle (KUV-100) bearing registration number JK01AD-2899 with three persons on board. They have been identified as Ahmad Bin Ishaq Kawa son of Mohd Ishaq resident of Nawakadal, Daniyal Ahmad Basati son of Ajaz Ahmad resident of Palpora Noorbagh and Taha Yasir son of Yasir Ahmad Bhat resident of Aalikadal Srinagar. During search, 184 grams of charas was recovered from their possession.

They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 24/2025 under NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Safakadal and investigation has been initiated.

Shopian Police Crack Sheep Theft Cases, Recover Stolen Livestock—Three Arrested, More Suspects on Radar

 Police in Shopian cracked multiple sheep theft cases bringing relief to affected families and recovered stolen live stock.

The residents of Heegund Batpora, Ayend Rawalpora and Ramnagri had reported theft incidents involving dozens of stolen sheep causing panic in the area. Consequently, FIR No. 03/2025 at PS Heerpora and FIR Nos. 21/2025, 23/2025, and 31/2025 at PS Shopian were registered and investigations were initiated.

To expedite the investigation and recover the stolen livestock, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted by SSP Shopian comprising officers from PS Shopian and PS Heerpora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Shopian. The team questioned multiple suspects and analysed CCTV footage from various routes eventually identifying and apprehending the culprits besides making recovery of dozens of stolen sheep.The arrested individual have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Dar son of Gh Hassan resident of Raiwatan Aasnoor, Kulgam, Nissar Ahmad Malla son of Gh Rasool Malla resident of Wazir Check, Imam Sahib, Shopian and Abdul Rehman Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir resident of Sarmarg Kandimarg, Kulgam. During questioning, the accused confessed their involvement in multiple theft incidents, not only in Shopian but also in Bijbehara (Anantnag) and Kakapora (Pulwama).

Efforts are on to apprehend other gang members who remain at large, and further confessions are expected as the investigation continues.(KNS)

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that it has foiled robbery attempt in a bank by arresting two accused in Hatli area of Kathua district.

A Police spokesperson said that in the intervening night of 25th-26th February, 02 burglars namely Ankush Sharma S/o Parkash Chand R/o Darsoo, Udhampur and Sunil Singh S/o Dharam Singh R/o Hatli Kathua broke open the side wall of the J&k bank premises and entered with in the bank.

According to police spokesman, while burglars were trying to break the walls and lock-door of strong room, Night patrolling party of PP Hatli intercepted suspicious movements within the bank and intervened. However, taking the advantage of darkness, the said burglars absconded from spot.

In the further course of action, Police team of put strenuous efforts and with the help of technical expertise and other interventions traced the absconded persons and arrested them from the kootah area of Hirangar on the same day, he said.

In this regard, FIR No. 97/2025 U/S 324(4) , 331(4), 305, 62 BNS has been registered in PS Kathua while futher investigation is in progress, he added.

A Spokesperson said that Police party of Police Station Khanshab, at a checkpoint established at Kremshora near Graveyard intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot, but was tactfully apprehended by police party. He has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi son of Mohammad Maqbool Sofi resident of Chodribagh Kremshora Khansahab. During search, 03 sticks of Charas like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing about 69.28 grams were recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he was arrested.

During questioning, the accused person disclosed that he has procured the contraband substance from one person namely Mohammad Wahid Thoker son of Mohammad Sadiq Thokar resident of Chodribagh Kremshora who has concealed the additional contraband substances at his residential house. Acting swiftly upon this information Police party conducted raid to the house in presence of 1st Class Executive Magistrate Khansahab and during search of the house Charas like substance in a powder form weighing about 550 grams was recovered and he was also arrested.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 26/2025 under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahab and investigation has been initiated.

Anantnag Police Attach ₹1 Crore Property Linked to Drug Trafficking Networks in Cheenigund Srigufwara

In a decisive action against drug trafficking and its financial networks, Police in Anantnag has attached a double-storey under-construction residential house belonging to Abdul Majeed Bhat son-in-law of Mohammad Ahsan Ganaie resident of Cheenigund, Srigufwara.

The property, spread over 1 Kanal of land and valued at ₹1 crore, has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, as it has been linked to proceeds from drug trafficking.

The accused is involved in a major narcotics case registered under FIR No. 68/2021 at Police Station Srigufwara, wherein a substantial quantity of contraband substances was recovered.

A Spokesperson said that Police party from Police Station Aishmuqam under the supervision of SDPO Pahalgam at a checkpoint established at Brad Aishmuqam and arrested two drug peddlers identified as Farooq Ahmad Lone son in law of Gh Rasool Itoo resident of Paith Nambal A/P Yall and Zafar Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Afzal Bhat resident of Khayar. During search 7.2Kgs of Cannabis Husk and 256 grams of Cannabis Powder like substance from their possession.

Similarly in Handwara, A police team led by IC PP Chogul intercepted a vehicle Swift Dzire bearing registration No. JK09D-5264 with two persons on board. During search of the vehicle, 8.30 grams of a heroin-like substance from their possession. They have been identified as Faisal Ahmad son of Ab. Jabar Lone resident of Bramri, Kupwara and Tahir Habib son of Habibullah Dar resident of Jaggerpora, Kupwara. They have been arrested besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Massive Drug Bust: 4 Peddlers Arrested in Sopore, Budgam & Handwara—Contraband Seized!

In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 04 drug peddlers in Sopore, Budgam & Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Sopore, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Warpora under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO Police Station Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Dangerpora, apprehended two suspected persons. They have been identified as Farooq Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar and Hilal Ahmad Ganie son of Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, both residents of Dangerpora Sopore. During search, 140 grams of contraband charas like substance was recovered from their possession and the duo was subsequently arrested.

In Handwara, a police party of police station Qalamabad headed by SHO PS Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Audoora Near bridge intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh son of Habibullah Beigh resident of Jahama Qalamabad. During his personal search, 26 grams of contraband Charas-like substances has been recovered from his possession. Accordingly, he has been arrested and shifted to police station Qalamabad for further investigation.

In Budgam, a police party of Police Post Narbal during patrolling near village Kawoosa at Gupan Gali area intercepted a suspicious person carrying a polyethene bag. During search, semi-grinded Charas like substance weighing about 2.997 kilograms was recovered from the said bag. Subsequently, he was arrested on the spot for further course of action as per law and during questioning he revealed his identity as Ghulam Mohiuddin Sheikh son of late Abdul Jabbar Sheikh resident of Jawaharpora Narbal Magam.

Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

A Spokesperson said that Police team of Srinagar Police at a checkpoint established at General Road Allochibagh Bund near Sacred Mission School, intercepted a suspicious person who after noticing police team tried to flee but was apprehended tactfully. During search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Majid Shafi Najar @ Choota Chaama son of Mohammad Shafi Najar resident of Chan Mohalla Allochibagh Srinagar.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.03/2025 under NDPS Act has been registered in PS Shergarhi and investigation has been initiated.
