Jammu Congress Protests Arrest of IYC Chief Uday Bhanu Chib Over AI Summit Demonstration

Arrest of IYC Chief Uday Bhanu Chib

Jammu Congress members on Wednesday held a protest in Jammu over the arrest of Indian Youth Congress National President Uday Bhanu Chib following the ‘shirtless’ protest at AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

Holding the posters of ‘PM Is Compromised’, the Congress criticised Chib’s arrest, accusing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of dictatorship and divisive politics.

This comes after the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Tuesday said eight persons, including IYC president Uday Bhanu Chib, have been arrested in connection with the protest last week. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Speaking with ANI, Neeraj Kundan, Jammu Rural Congress President, expressed anger over the arrest memo of Chib, which Kundan said recognised the IYC President as “mastermind” for the protest in the national capital and accused the BJP government of failing to arrest the culprits behind the terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

“The way IYC members have been arrested. The arrest memo given to Chib says that he has been arrested for creating the ‘PM is compromised’ T-shirts and recognising him as the mastermind. I want to ask, where are the masterminds of the Pahalgam attack, the Pulwama attack? They brought kgs of RDX and the governemnt couldn’t catch them, but rather arrested someone who made T-shirts,” he said.

Referring to the Galgotias University Robodog controversy at the India AI Impact Summit, Kundan said, “Wasn’t the country humiliated and insulted when an Indian University called a Chinese product as their curation at the AI Summit? But the ones protesting against the BJP and PM are called anti-national.”

He further emphasised Congress’s commitment to questioning the government’s unjust rule, calling them the “Babbar sher” of Lok Sabh LoP Rahul Gandhi.

“We are protesting against that, and I want to tell Amit Shah and PM Modi every member of the Congress is fearless and is the ‘babbr sher’ of Rahul Gandhi. You can put us in jail however much you want, but we will not get terrified of the BJP’s tyranny,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, speaking at a press briefing, Delhi Police Special CP Crime Branch, Devesh Chandra Srivastava, said that they have found concrete evidence that the incident was done “under a deep conspiracy.”

“On the basis of the investigation so far, we have found concrete evidence that this was done under a deep conspiracy. Further investigation into this case has been transferred to the Interstate Cell of Crime Branch. Detailed investigation is being done,” he said.

“The arrested people include Indian Youth Congress office bearers. All arrested people were questioned after being taken into police remand,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Patiala House court has allowed the application seeking the FIR lodged in the case.

The court has directed the Delhi Police to supply a copy of the FIR. Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) passed the order after considering the application moved on behalf of Chib and Ajay Kumar Vimal and the reply filed by the Delhi police.

On February 20, the members of the Indian Youth Congress staged a “shirtless protest” at the Bharat Mandapam venue of the Al Impact India Summit in the national capital by removing their shirts with slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. (ANI)

Bharti Airtel Foundation, Northern Command Strengthen Army Goodwill Schools Programme in J&K and Ladakh

Goodwill Schools Programme in J&K

Bharti Airtel Foundation and the Northern Command of the Indian Army have reaffirmed their joint commitment to delivering equitable, high-quality education to children in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh through the Army Goodwill Schools (AGS) Program.

The announcement was made after a high-level meeting, held on February 23, between Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, SYSM, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, and Binu Nair, Chief Operating Officer of the Bharti Airtel Foundation, held at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur. For over nine years, Bharti Airtel Foundation’s Quality Support Program has worked with the Northern Command to strengthen teacher capacity, improve classroom practice, and expand student opportunities, helping build stronger and more resilient Army Goodwill Schools ecosystems.

According to the release by Bharti Airtel Foundation, “As part of the next phase of engagement, Bharti Airtel Foundation announced the rollout of specially created professional development courses for AGS educators through TheTeacherApp, its free-for-life digital learning platform dedicated to continuous teacher growth.”

These initiatives will be aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and delivered through structured in-person teacher training sessions complemented by continuous digital access to TheTeacherApp. The customised program will focus on strengthening inclusive foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) classroom practice, building teacher confidence in using digital and AI-enabled learning tools, and nurturing educators to guide school-based professional learning.

This initiative builds on the Foundation’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality capacity-building opportunities for educators in remote regions.

Another key outcome of the meeting was the decision to further strengthen the partnership by establishing dedicated Career Counselling Cells across Army Goodwill Schools. These cells will provide structured guidance, informed academic planning, and exposure to diverse higher education and vocational pathways—enabling students, especially from underserved communities, to make confident and well-informed choices about their futures.

In addition, both institutions agreed to work collaboratively to engage and empower AGS students in emerging niche technology domains such as Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, equipping them with future-ready skills aligned with evolving national and global workforce demands.

Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C, Northern Command, said, “Army Goodwill Schools have been a cornerstone of our outreach in Jammu & Kashmir, and our collaboration with Bharti Airtel Foundation continues to enhance their academic strength and future readiness. This partnership supports not only teacher development but also broadens horizons for our students, equipping them to contribute confidently to society.”

Binu Nair, COO, Bharti Airtel Foundation, said, “Our long-standing partnership with the Northern Command reflects our shared vision of ensuring that every child has access to quality education and meaningful future pathways. Through initiatives such as TheTeacherApp and the strengthening of career‑counselling systems, we aim to empower both educators and students with the tools, confidence, and opportunities they need to thrive.”

To mark the ongoing collaboration, a memento was presented to Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma. The Foundation also shared its Annual Report 2024–25 and comprehensive documentation of its 2025 capacity‑building work undertaken for Army Goodwill Schools under the partnership. (ANI)

BJP Slams Omar Abdullah Govt Over ‘Inaction’ on Kashmir’s Rising Temperatures

Kashmir’s Rising Temperatures

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday mounted a scathing attack on the Omar Abdullah-led government over what it termed as “complete inaction” on environmental protection, with party spokesperson Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia alleging that Kashmir is warming at an alarming pace.

Addressing a press conference along with J&K BJP spokespersons Altaf Thakur and Manzoor Bhat, Jasrotia claimed that Kashmir’s temperature is witnessing a rise of nearly 2.5 degrees above normal — significantly higher than the global warming rate of around 1.5 degrees — placing the Valley in a “danger zone”.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“At a time when we need massive greenery and forest protection, the Chief Minister talks about artificial snow and artificial cooling. These are cosmetic measures and potentially dangerous for sports lovers and the fragile Himalayan ecosystem,” Jasrotia said.

He alleged that during the past one and a half years, the Omar government has failed to safeguard the region’s green cover. “Trees are being cut in the name of development, but there is no serious effort to restore what is being lost. We are gradually losing our natural cooling shield,” he added.

Jasrotia accused the government of lacking a clear climate action strategy and prioritising “public relations exercises over environmental protection.” He said unregulated urban expansion, road widening projects and shrinking orchards were contributing to ecological imbalance.

Targeting the administration politically, he remarked, “Instead of taking decisive steps to protect Kashmir’s forests and wetlands, the government appears content enjoying the hot seat.”

The BJP leader also claimed that between 2019- 2023, forest cover in the region for the first time saw a bit of improvement not only this the list glory of 4-chinar was restored by forest department in this period and later was given back to gardener & parks department. Dr jasrotia said that after that under the present govt of NC things have gone back now deforestation, wetland degradation and unchecked construction has increased once again & this could worsen heatwaves, reduce snowfall and impact tourism and horticulture.

Altaf Thakur said environmental degradation was already affecting livelihoods. “Irregular snowfall and rising temperatures are hurting apple growers and the tourism sector. The government has failed to present a transparent climate policy or concrete urban planning framework,” he said.

Manzoor Bhat added that rapid urbanisation in Srinagar and other towns without ecological safeguards was intensifying the urban heat effect. He stressed the need for scientific planning and strict monitoring of tree felling.

Calling for mass public participation, Jasrotia proposed a symbolic plantation campaign. “On Eid, every child should receive a Chinar sapling as Eidee and plant it. This will send a powerful message about preserving our heritage and securing our future,” he said.

The BJP leaders demanded a time-bound afforestation programme, strict audit of development projects involving tree cutting and revival of wetlands and traditional water bodies, warning that failure to act could push Kashmir toward irreversible environmental damage.
