274 Taliban Fighters Dead, 400 Wounded in Fierce Border Fighting; 12 Pakistani Soldiers Killed, 27 Injured

zabihullah mujahid

Tensions along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border have sharply escalated after Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, following a series of cross-border attacks. According to Pakistan’s military spokesperson, the clashes resulted in heavy casualties on both sides, marking one of the most intense phases of fighting in recent years.

Massive Exchange of Fire Across 53 Locations

The Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, said that Afghan Taliban forces opened fire at 53 different locations across 15 sectors along the border. Pakistani forces responded immediately, repelling all attacks. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Military officials described the fighting as fierce and prolonged, involving artillery, drones, and armoured units. Explosions were reported in multiple sectors as both sides engaged in heavy shelling.

Heavy Taliban Losses Reported

According to the official briefing:

  • 274 Taliban fighters were killed
  • More than 400 were wounded
  • 74 Taliban posts were completely destroyed
  • 18 checkpoints are now under Pakistani control
  • 115 tanks and armoured vehicles were destroyed

Pakistan claims that its forces targeted only military installations and armed positions. Several hideouts linked to militant groups were reportedly struck in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar.

Pakistani Casualties Confirmed

On the Pakistani side, the military confirmed:

  • 12 soldiers were killed
  • 27 soldiers were injured

Officials described the fallen soldiers as brave personnel who lost their lives while defending border posts against coordinated attacks.

Air and Drone Operations

The Pakistan Air Force carried out targeted strikes on key Taliban positions, including reported hits on an Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Kabul and another installation in Kandahar. Night-time explosions were seen across parts of Kabul during the operation.

Meanwhile, drone attacks attempted in Abbottabad and Nowshera were successfully intercepted, preventing further damage.

No Distinction Between Regime and Militants

During the briefing, Pakistan’s military leadership stated that there is “no difference” between the Afghan Taliban regime and militant groups operating from Afghan soil. Officials argued that the operation is aimed at protecting Pakistan’s citizens and ensuring border security.

Operation Continues

Authorities confirmed that Operation Ghazab Lil Haq is ongoing under the direction of Pakistan’s Prime Minister. The military says operations will continue until all objectives are achieved and cross-border threats are eliminated.

The recent escalation has raised serious concerns about regional stability. With heavy casualties on both sides, the situation remains tense, and further developments are being closely watched by the international community.

Pakistan Attacks Afghanistan in ‘Operation Ghazab lil-Haq’, Says It Killed 133 Taliban Fighters and injured 200

Pakistan Attacks Afghanistan

Pakistan and Afghanistan are now in a serious fight along their border. Pakistan started a big military action called Operation Ghazab lil-Haq (which means something like “Wrath for the Truth” or “Righteous Anger”).

Pakistan says this started because Afghan Taliban soldiers attacked Pakistani posts on Thursday night. The attacks happened in areas like Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Pakistan used airplanes to bomb important Taliban defense places in Afghanistan. These include the big cities: Kabul (the capital), Kandahar, and Paktia. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said:

  • 133 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed.
  • More than 200 were hurt.
  • 27 Taliban posts were destroyed.
  • 9 posts were taken over by Pakistan.
  • Many tanks, guns, and other vehicles were also destroyed.

Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif called it an “open war“. He said Pakistan’s patience is over and they will fight strongly.

The Afghan Taliban says Pakistan’s attacks were wrong. Their spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said the bombs hit Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia, but claimed no big losses for them. Instead, Afghanistan says they killed 55 Pakistani soldiers and took some posts in return.

Both sides blame each other. Pakistan says the Taliban helps groups that attack Pakistan (like TTP). Afghanistan says Pakistan is breaking their land rules.

Other countries like Iran offered to help talk and stop the fighting. The United Nations and others asked both sides to stay calm so it does not become a bigger war. This is one of the worst fights between the two countries in many years. The situation is still going on, and more actions may happen.

Pakistan Declares “Open War” on Afghanistan After Airstrikes; Kabul Claims 55 Soldiers Killed in Retaliation

Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions

Cross-border clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan escalated sharply on Friday, with Islamabad declaring “open war” on Kabul after carrying out airstrikes in parts of Kabul, Kandahar and Paktia, further intensifying tensions between the two neighbouring countries.

In a post on X, Pakistan’s Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif, issued a strong statement declaring the “open war” against Afghanistan, stating that Islamabad has lost its patience and accusing the Taliban-led administration of harbouring militants. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“After the withdrawal of NATO forces, it was expected that there would be peace in Afghanistan and that the Taliban would focus on the interests of the Afghan people and peace in the region…They gathered all the terrorists of the world in Afghanistan and began exporting terrorism. They deprived their own people of basic human rights. They snatched away the rights that Islam grants to women,” his post read.

“Our cup of patience has overflowed. Now it is open war between us and you. Now it will be ‘Dama Dam Mast Qalandar’. Pakistan’s army did not come from across the seas. We are your neighbours; we know your ins and outs. Allahu Akbar,” the Pakistani Defence Minister added.

Following the Pakistani strikes on Afghan soil, Afghanistan’s spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, condemned the attack, calling the act by the Pakistani military “cowardly”.

“The cowardly Pakistani military has carried out airstrikes in certain areas of Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia; fortunately, there have been no reported casualties,” Mujahid said in a statement on X.

The escalation comes amid heightened tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban-led administration in Kabul over cross-border security concerns along the Durand Line, the border drawn by the British in the 19th century, which has remained a topic of dispute between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Defence of Afghanistan said that 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed in retaliatory operations carried out along the Durand Line on Thursday.

In a press release, the ministry said the action was launched at 8:00 PM on the 9th of Ramadan, corresponding to February 26, in response to what it described as a violation of Afghan territory by Pakistani military forces days earlier.

“A few days ago, the Pakistani military circles, with great audacity, violated Afghan territory, breached our borders, and martyred women and children here,” the statement read.

“In these retaliatory operations along the Durand Line, a total of 55 Pakistani soldiers were killed, two bases and 19 posts were captured,” the statement added.

In retaliation, Pakistan initiated the ‘Ghazab Lil Haq’ operation targeting the Afghan Taliban regime, as reported by ARY News.

Spokesperson of Pakistani Prime Minister Mosharraf Zaidi alleged that 133 Afghan Taliban fighters have been killed and over 200 wounded, with 27 Taliban posts destroyed and nine captured. (ANI)

Delhi Court Discharges Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia in Excise Case

Delhi Court Discharges Arvind Kejriwal

In a major relief to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, a Delhi court today discharged former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and all 23 accused in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam.

Special Judge Jitendra Singh of the Rouse Avenue Court refused to take cognisance of the CBI chargesheet, ruling that there was no overarching conspiracy or criminal intent in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. The court observed that the prosecution failed to establish even a prima facie case, describing several allegations as misleading and unsupported by cogent evidence. It highlighted serious lacunae in the investigation and criticised the CBI for implicating individuals without sufficient material. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The judge emphasised that serious criminal allegations against public figures require substantive backing, not mere inferences or narratives. The court noted that policy changes appeared to involve administrative deliberations rather than corrupt motives, and no evidence supported claims of a central conspiratorial role.

The decision marks the end — at least for now — of a high-profile case that had dragged on for years, involving arrests, prolonged judicial proceedings, and intense political accusations. Kejriwal and Sisodia had previously faced custody in connection with the matter, including time in Tihar Jail.

Reacting emotionally after the verdict, Arvind Kejriwal broke down in tears while addressing the media. “I am not corrupt. The court has said that Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are kattar imaandaar (staunchly honest),” he said, alleging that the case was part of a larger political conspiracy orchestrated against AAP. He claimed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had targeted the party by arresting its top leaders, including a sitting Chief Minister — a first in the country’s history.

Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, stated, “Truth always prevails,” expressing faith that justice would ultimately triumph despite the challenges faced.

Manish Sisodia was seen consoling his colleague amid the emotional moment, as family members and supporters welcomed them at home.

The CBI is reportedly planning to challenge the discharge order in the Delhi High Court, with sources indicating the agency views the ruling as contestable and intends to file an appeal after reviewing the detailed judgment.

This development provides significant political momentum to AAP ahead of future electoral battles, with party leaders framing it as vindication against what they describe as motivated investigations.

The excise policy, introduced in 2021-22 to reform liquor sales in Delhi, was scrapped amid controversy over alleged irregularities, leading to multiple probes by CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Earlier related proceedings had seen mixed outcomes, including bail grants and acquittals in some ED-linked matters.

Supreme Court Fixes March 10 for Final Hearing in Sonam Wangchuk NSA Detention Case

Centre Blames Sonam Wangchuk

The Supreme Court on Thursday scheduled the final hearing in the plea filed by Gitanjali J Angmos, wife of Ladakh-based climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, challenging her husband’s detention under the National Security Act (NSA), for March 10.

A bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and PB Varale also clarified that the Court will not grant any more time to parties for any further arguments on the matter. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“If we have any doubt (on the case), only that we will ask. That day we are closing it. We will not allow anything (beyond clearing doubts). Come what may, close it”, the Court stated.

Earlier, on February 11, the Supreme Court had questioned whether Wangchuk’s speeches and social media posts could legitimately be treated as provocative material leading to the Leh violence on September 24, 2025.

While hearing submissions by the Central government and the Leh administration defending Wangchuk’s preventive detention under the National Security Act (NSA), a Bench of Justices Aravind Kumar and PB Varale examined the speeches relied upon by the detaining authorities and raised questions on the interpretation being placed on them, particularly where Wangchuk appears to be expressing concern over youth losing faith in peaceful “Gandhian” methods of protest and the fear of a violent outbreak in the demand for Statehood.

When Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj, appearing for the Centre, submitted that Wangchuk was the chief provocateur behind the violent protests and had instigated the youth by warning that a Nepal-like situation could arise in India, the Court questioned this reading and remarked that Wangchuk appeared to be expressing concern and surprise over the situation.

“Where does he say that? He is saying they (the youth) have taken it. He himself is surprised,” the Court asked.

Nataraj responded that such an inference could be drawn from the speech itself. He then referred to another portion in which Wangchuk allegedly stated that the deployment of armed forces in Ladakh was unfortunate.

“He says youth say peaceful methods have not proved effective,” Nataraj submitted. “This is a hybrid expression,” he added.

The Court responded that in these speeches, Wangchuk appears to be expressing worry about violence and questioned the interpretation being placed by the Centre that he’s instigating it.

“He (Wangchuk) is saying it’s worrying. He’s expressing that this is not something which would be welcome. If someone says violent — is the expression, ‘I’m worried’. Some people are abandoning the peaceful way and are willing to take violent methods; this is worrying. We are following the Gandhian way. If someone is taking a departure from that way (non-violent Gandhian method) – departure from that is worrying,” the Court said. (ANI)

Jammu & Kashmir Dominate Karnataka on Day 3 of Ranji Trophy 2025-26 Final

J&K Sports

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) seized firm control of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final against eight-time champions Karnataka on Day 3 at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground, leaving the hosts staring at a massive first-innings deficit.

J&K, appearing in their maiden Ranji final, were bowled out for a commanding 584 in 173.1 overs early on Day 3, adding 57 runs to their overnight 527/6. Shubham Pundir top-scored with a gritty 121 (off 247 balls, 12 fours, 2 sixes), while contributions came from Paras Dogra (70), Kanhaiya Wadhawan (70), Sahil Lotra (72 off 138 balls, including 8 fours), and others. Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna claimed a five-wicket haul (5/98) but toiled on a largely placid pitch. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In reply, Karnataka’s batting lineup crumbled against J&K’s disciplined seam attack, led by pacer Auqib Nabi, who delivered a devastating spell of 3/32 in 14 overs. Nabi dismantled the top order, dismissing KL Rahul, Karun Nair, and season’s leading run-scorer R Smaran around the lunch interval, reducing Karnataka to 57/4 as the ball swung and seamed effectively.

Opener Mayank Agarwal mounted a lone resistance with an unbeaten 130 (off 207 balls, 17 fours), anchoring the innings and preventing a complete collapse. At stumps on Day 3, Karnataka were 220/5 in 69 overs, still trailing by a hefty 364 runs. Kruthik Krishna remained unbeaten on 27* alongside Agarwal.

The day highlighted J&K’s superior bowling intensity and accuracy on a surface that offered little earlier, contrasting Karnataka’s struggles. With only the tailenders left, Karnataka face an uphill battle to avoid the follow-on and force a contest on Day 4.

This historic final sees underdogs J&K pushing for a maiden title against a star-studded Karnataka side featuring multiple Test players. Play resumes tomorrow, with J&K firmly in the driver’s seat.

“Before we talk about your future, we must honor those who got you here,” Omar Abdullah said, emphasizing that every degree awarded represents years of silent struggle and unwavering support from families. He described parents enduring cold nights, long working hours, and financial hardships to ensure their children could pursue higher education.

“This degree belongs to them,” he declared, drawing applause from the audience. Quoting a well-known hadith—“Your heaven lies under the feet of your mother”—he reminded students that their success is built upon the dreams and sacrifices of their elders.

The convocation ceremony marked a significant milestone for the University, with over 59,000 degrees and medals awarded, reflecting its expanding academic footprint, research output, and alignment with the National Education Policy. The event celebrated not only scholastic achievement but also the spirit of perseverance that defines the region’s youth.

Describing the graduating class as the “spring of Jammu and Kashmir in full bloom,” the Chief Minister urged them to become architects of a progressive and inclusive future. He encouraged students to define success beyond financial gain, stressing that “success is not just a high salary; it is a peaceful mind and a resilient heart.”

Omar Abdullah also reiterated his government’s commitment to creating merit-based opportunities, ensuring that talent and dedication—rather than background—determine success.

The speech resonated strongly with attendees, with many visibly moved by the tribute to parents. Video clips from the ceremony quickly circulated across social media platforms, amplifying the message of gratitude, cultural respect, and collective progress.

The convocation concluded on a celebratory note, reinforcing themes of academic excellence, family values, and a shared vision for a brighter Jammu and Kashmir.
