Waheed Ur Rehman Parra Rallies Support for Mehbooba Mufti in South Kashmir Campaign

On Sunday, PDP Youth President Waheed Ur Rehman Parra continued his active campaign for Party President Mehbooba Mufti by addressing numerous public meetings in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

During his campaign, Parra also engaged with activists and supporters, accompanied by Youth General Secretary Najmu Saqib and other party officials. The public meetings saw enthusiastic participation from local residents, demonstrating strong support for the PDP’s goals.

In his speeches, Parra emphasized that the election represents a chance to break the cycle of silence and give a voice to the people. He highlighted the alignment between the PDP’s vision and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, embodied in Mehbooba Mufti’s leadership. Parra encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers for Mehbooba Mufti in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Parra stressed that elections are not merely a democratic procedure but a vital opportunity to ensure that the voices of Kashmiris are heard clearly. He called for unity and strength in these challenging times, advocating for the people’s concerns and the cause of peace and justice. He praised Mehbooba Mufti for her unwavering dedication to the people, noting that she has been a vocal advocate for their issues over the past five years, addressing harassment from Kashmir to Delhi.

Highlighting the importance of the forthcoming elections as a pivotal moment for Kashmir, Parra urged the youth to participate actively and make their voices count. “Our future is in our hands. By engaging in the electoral process, we can create a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow. The PDP is committed to representing the true spirit of Kashmir and fighting for the rights and dignity of our people,” he stated.

Parra asserted that government efforts to arrest and detain PDP workers would not deter the party from connecting with the people and amplifying their voices. Recalling the Srinagar parliamentary election, he mentioned that despite the detention of over 100 party workers, the people supported the PDP and voted in large numbers. “Previously, the question was why Kashmiris didn’t vote. Now, the discussion is about why they are voting in such large numbers,” he remarked.

He accused certain government elements of attempting to promote an election boycott and warned that incidents like those in Shopian and Pahalgam create fear, leading to boycotts. Parra called for a thorough investigation into these incidents to uncover the perpetrators and their motives, stressing that such events could harm Kashmiri youth and hinder electoral progress.

Altaf Bukhari Accuses NC and PDP of Facilitating Amit Shah’s Kashmir Visit and Fragmenting PAGD

Altaf Bukhari

Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari accused the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of facilitating Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to Kashmir. He also held these parties responsible for the fragmentation of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).

Speaking to Kashmir News Service during a public meeting in Anantnag, Bukhari alleged that the NC and PDP had played a significant role in organizing Shah’s visit, thereby exposing themselves to the public.

“NC and PDP talk about the dignity of Jammu & Kashmir when they are out of power, but once they are in office, everything seems fine to them. I want to tell them that the chair won’t be returned to them immediately; only the dignity and respect for the youth will be,” Bukhari remarked.

He criticized the NC and PDP, calling them traditional political parties that have been thoroughly discredited. “If they believe people have forgotten their ‘milk & toffee’ remarks and their collaboration with the BJP in Jammu & Kashmir, they are mistaken. They are essentially the A and B teams of the BJP, and their time is up,” he declared. Bukhari maintained that the NC and PDP facilitated Amit Shah’s visit and played a key role in dismantling the PAGD, which was formed to fight for the restoration of Article 370.

“Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Kashmir was orchestrated by the NC and PDP. These political dynasties were tasked with breaking up the PAGD. If they deny it, I will provide evidence of the meetings where plans to undermine PAGD were made,” Bukhari asserted.

Mehbooba Mufti Warns of Echoes of 1987 in Kashmir: Urges Unity Against Electoral Manipulation

In a fiery address, Mehbooba Mufti, President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), issued a stark warning about the ominous echoes of history repeating itself in Kashmir. She cautioned against a resurgence of the chaotic 1987 scenario, stressing the perilous ramifications of betraying the trust of Kashmiri youth in the electoral process.

Speaking at election rallies in Baramulla, Mufti commended the political acumen of Kashmiris while underscoring the emotional depth that drives them. Drawing parallels to the 1987 elections, marred by rigging and subsequent unrest, she lamented the missed opportunity for a different trajectory had fair play prevailed.

Mufti accused the current administration of coercing officers from specific communities to bolster BJP-affiliated candidates, raising fears of a redux of 1987’s electoral manipulation. She criticized the dual approach of the government, noting the readiness of Jamaat-e-Islami to participate in elections juxtaposed with tactics reminiscent of suppressing legitimate voices.

Emphasizing the youth’s vote as an expression of their grievances, Mufti warned against rigging, foreseeing disastrous consequences. She challenged NC Vice President Omar Abdullah’s previous assurances of support, citing NC’s actions as a betrayal of trust and unity among political parties.

Addressing Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rhetoric on Kashmir, Mufti criticized BJP’s fear-mongering and urged respect for the existing Muslim population in India before delving into Kashmir’s status. She highlighted the suffocation felt by Kashmiris, exemplified by significant voter turnout and the plight of imprisoned youth.

Mufti stressed the need for parliamentary representation to challenge decisions made on August 5, 2019, advocating for a unified political front. Expressing disappointment at NC’s prioritization of party over principles, she envisioned a collaborative effort that transcends partisan lines for the greater good of Kashmir.
