Islamic University of Science and Technology Kashmir Vice Chancellor Prof. Romshoo Hosts Interactive Session with Graduating Angolan Students
The Office for International Affairs (OIA) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, organized an interactive session with the graduating international student from Angola. The session, led by the Vice Chancellor of IUST, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, provided an opportunity for students and university officials to engage in meaningful discussions on their experiences at the university.
During the session, Prof. Romshoo felicitated Victor Zua Canda, one of the graduating students, and praised their contributions as IUST’s student ambassadors. He emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting international students and offered his best wishes for their future endeavors. Prof. Romshoo also highlighted the importance of diversification within the university and spoke about the need to enrich the academic and cultural experiences of students. He acknowledged that international students play a vital role in fostering a global learning environment at IUST.
The session also celebrated the graduation of two Angolan students, Joao Afonso Gunza and Victor Zua Canda, who completed their B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Both students were enrolled under the prestigious Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) scholarship program, which is funded by the Government of India. This scholarship has allowed them to pursue higher education in India and experience the rich cultural diversity the country has to offer.
Victor Zua Canda expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the various training and experiential learning opportunities he received during his time at IUST. He praised the university for providing a platform that not only focused on academic excellence but also nurtured the holistic development of its students.
The session was attended by several prominent members of the university, including Registrar IUST, Prof. Abdul Wahid Makhdoomi; Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, Dr. Kaiser Giri; Dean of Students, Dr. Asifa Baba; Officer in Charge of International Affairs, Dr. Monisa Qadiri; and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, Dr. Rayes Ahmad Lone.
The event underscored IUST’s dedication to fostering international collaboration and creating a supportive environment for its students, especially those from abroad. The university continues to emphasize the importance of international relations in enhancing the overall educational experience for students and faculty alike.
