CJP Protest Against Chief Election Commissioner

The CJP had planned to hold a demonstration in Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The group raised concerns over alleged irregularities in the electoral roll revision process.

Delhi Police detained thousands of people during its action against the planned protest on Saturday. While many detainees were released the same day, several CJP leaders remained in custody for longer.

CJP convener Abhijeet Dipke and co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were also detained. An executive magistrate subsequently ordered their release, nearly 24 hours after their detention.

Police Action Draws Attention

Rathee’s detention and subsequent release came amid heightened security in the national capital ahead of the planned demonstration.

The police action affected several people associated with the protest, while the CJP maintained that its agitation would continue.

The release of Rathee and the three CJP leaders marked a significant development in the events surrounding the planned demonstration.
