Dera Ismail Khan Suicide Attack Kills 12, Including Women and Child; Over 35 Injured

At least 12 people, including two women and a two-year-old child, were killed in a suicide attack at an anti-smuggling check post in Dera Ismail Khan, officials and sources said on Saturday.
The attack took place in the Darazanda area on the Dera Ismail Khan-Quetta Road. According to sources, a vehicle loaded with explosives was driven into the Aman Mela Police Checkpoint before exploding. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Regional Police Officer (RPO) Ghulam Mubashir said six police personnel and one Customs official were among those killed in the blast.
More than 35 people were injured in the attack, including police and Customs officials as well as civilians. The RPO said 25 injured people were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for treatment. Some of the injured were reported to be in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could increase.
Rescue Ambulance Comes Under Attack
The violence continued after the main explosion when militants opened fire on an ambulance carrying people injured in the suicide attack.
According to security sources, at least two rescue officials were killed when the ambulance came under fire in the Darazanda area.
Security forces were carrying out an operation against the militants following the attack, sources said.
