BGSBU Hosts ‘Yuwa Samwad’ to Empower Youth in Fight Against Drug Abuse under Viksit Bharat Programme

Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) successfully organized “Yuwa Samwad” (Youth Dialogue) on the theme “Drug Free India: Role of Youth in Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” under the Viksit Bharat Youth Connect Programme. Held on the University campus, the event emphasized the vital role of youth in combating drug abuse and contributing towards the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The event was presided over by Mr. Abhishek Sharma (IAS), Registrar of BGSBU, who served as the Chief Guest. In his comprehensive and thought-provoking keynote address, Mr. Sharma explored the theme from multiple dimensions. He stated, “Educational institutions must not limit their role to academic excellence alone. They must emerge as catalysts of social transformation, particularly in the context of achieving Viksit Bharat 2047.”

He further added, “Youth are the real change agents of our society. Their energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking are the keys to driving meaningful change and creating a drug-free India.”

Mr. Abhishek Sharma, IAS, also stressed the need for dialogue and awareness, saying, “A drug-free society can only be built through collective responsibility. Educational institutions must actively create spaces for open conversations, guidance, and community support.”

During the interactive segment of the session, Mr. Abhishek Sharma, IAS, directly engaged with students and faculty, answering questions and addressing concerns. He noted, “Interaction is the foundation of understanding. When we listen to our youth and respond meaningfully, we empower them to take ownership of the nation’s future.”

A key highlight of the event was the “Yuwa Samwad” competition, where two student teams presented innovative ideas for a drug-free India. The presentations were judged by Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum and Dr. Tasleem Arif. On the occasion, Dr. Shams Kamal Anjum, Associate Dean of Students, delivered a presentation highlighting a multidimensional strategy to combat substance abuse through education, awareness, and community collaboration.
