Vodafone Idea (Vi) launched its 5G services in Pune on August 22, 2025, marking it the fifth city in Maharashtra to receive Vi’s next-generation connectivity, following Mumbai, Nagpur, Nashik, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. This rollout is part of Vi’s broader plan to expand 5G across 23 cities in 17 priority circles where it has acquired 5G spectrum.
As an introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited 5G data for prepaid subscribers in Pune on plans starting at ₹299. These plans enable high-definition streaming, immersive gaming, smoother video conferencing, faster downloads, and real-time cloud access. Specific prepaid plans include ₹299 (1GB daily data), ₹349 (1.5GB daily data), ₹365 (2GB daily data), and higher-tier options like ₹579, ₹649, ₹859, ₹979, and ₹3,599, all with 28-day validity or more, depending on the plan. Postpaid users can access unlimited 5G data on plans starting at ₹451, with a notable ₹871 plan supporting two connections, 120GB monthly data, 400GB rollover, unlimited calls, and 3,000 SMS.
Vi has partnered with Ericsson to deploy advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure and AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to optimize network performance in Pune and other Maharashtra cities. Alongside the 5G rollout, Vi has upgraded its 4G network in the Maharashtra and Goa circle, deploying 900 MHz spectrum on over 7,900 sites for better indoor coverage, enhancing 2100 MHz spectrum capacity on 7,000 sites, and adding over 2,100 new sites across 2,200 towns since March 2024.
Users with 5G-enabled devices in Pune can access these services immediately, provided they have a compatible Vi SIM and select 5G as the preferred network type in their phone settings. For more details on availability, plans, and supported devices.
