Addressing the Friday congregation at Jama Masjid here, the Mirwaiz referred to the attack on 18-year-old Tabish and his brother Danish, who were allegedly assaulted with iron rods in Uttarakhand’s Vikas Nagar area, causing grievous injuries to them.
He said that similar incidents of harassment and attacks on Kashmiri traders, labourers and students have recently been reported from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other parts of the country, which is a matter of serious concern.
The Mirwaiz saii that thousands of Kashmiris travel to different states during the winter months to earn an honest livelihood, and such targeting of vulnerable people must stop immediately.
He further said that incidents of violence and harassment increase safety risks for Kashmiri students, traders, professionals and others studying or working in various parts of India, causing fear and anxiety among them and their families.
Urging the authorities to take the matter seriously, the Mirwaiz called for concrete steps to ensure the safety and security of Kashmiris living and working outside Jammu and Kashmir.
