Police in Pulwama in coordination with the concerned Magistrate authorities, carried out a focused drive across the district to curb the sale of tobacco products around educational institutions.
A Police spokesperson said that Teams inspected several shops located near schools and colleges, checking for violations of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and the mandatory 100-meter no-tobacco zone. Shopkeepers were warned against selling tobacco to minors or operating within prohibited limits around educational institutions. They were instructed to ensure strict compliance in the future.
J&K Police has affirmed that such inspections will continue as part of its efforts to protect students from harmful exposure and promote a healthier, safer environment around learning spaces.
