Tanvir Sadiq Says Peaceful Protesters Should Not Have Been Stopped

National Conference chief spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Monday said that protesters who were stopped were holding a peaceful demonstration and should not have been prevented from protesting.

Speaking to reporters, Sadiq said the government had allowed such protests earlier, so there was no valid reason to stop them this time.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“A peaceful protest in a democracy is our democratic right. Every citizen should be given this right. What happened yesterday was not right,” he said.

On Reservation Policy

Commenting on the reservation policy, Sadiq said the government has followed the same steps that were promised in the party’s election manifesto.

He explained that a committee worked on the issue for six months and prepared a detailed report. After that, the Cabinet took legal advice, and the report was then sent to the Lok Bhawan for final approval.

“If there had been any change, we would have clearly informed the students. There is no change. We are fulfilling the promise we made to the students,” he added.

On Recruitment Process

On government recruitments, Sadiq said job posts will continue to be advertised. However, he clarified that the government wants the reservation decision to be formally approved first before moving ahead.

He said this approach is meant to ensure clarity and fairness for all candidates.
