Two infiltrators were killed on Tuesday after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt in the Machil sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials said.

Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the Line of Control and opened fire, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire that resulted in the killing of two terrorists

The search operations are underway to rule out the presence of more infiltrators—(KNO)

The Indian Army on Wednesday stated that two infiltrators were killed along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered,” an Army spokesperson said in a post on X.

The statement further added, “Synergistic and synchronised intelligence inputs from our intelligence units and the #JKP led to a successful operation.”

Earlier, an Army official reported that a fierce exchange of gunfire broke out when soldiers challenged a group of terrorists trying to infiltrate near a forward post in the Kalsiyan area.
