Jammu and Kashmir Police Arrest Three Drug Peddlers in Sopore and Awantipora, Recover Charas

Continuing its strong drive against drugs, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers in Sopore and Awantipora and recovered banned substances from their possession.

In Sopore, a police team was carrying out routine naka checking at Aftab Mohallah, Warpora Crossing, when they noticed two suspicious men. The two accused were identified as Ghulam Nabi Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, and Aabid Hussain War, son of Mohammad Afzal War. Both are residents of Warpora, Sopore.

In a separate action in Awantipora, police conducted naka checking at Reshipora. A police team from Police Post Reshipora, working under the supervision of the SHO Police Station Awantipora, stopped a suspicious person. During the search, around 630 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered.

The accused was identified as Abdul Qayoom Beig, son of Ali Mohammad Beig, a resident of Beigpora, Awantipora.

All three accused have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations, where they remain in custody. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the drugs and possible wider links.

Police reiterated their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and said strict, intelligence-based action will continue to protect youth and society from drugs. They also appealed to the public to cooperate and share information to help eliminate the drug menace.

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora & Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that Police team at a checkpoint established at Datpora Dogripora, arrested 02 drug peddlers, identified as Bilal Ahmad Lohrihanji son of Ali Mohd Lohrihanji resident of Gund Prang Hajin Bandipora and Reyaz Ahmad Mir son of Ab Gani Mir resident of Datapora Dogripora. During search, 1.460 Kgs of grinded Cannabis Powder was recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile in Sopore, during patrolling at Harwan Sopore, a Police team led by SHO PS Bomai under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, intercepted a drug peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mochi son of Mohammad Shaban Mochi resident of Harwan Sopore. During search, 137 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.

All the accused have been arrested and cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.

In a persistent effort to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police have arrested 3 drug peddlers in Kashmir and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.

In Budgam, Police Station Magam received information from reliable sources that a person namely Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh son of Abdul Razak Sheikh resident of Mazhama Magam has concealed narcotic substance in his residential house for its illegal sale among youth of the area. Subsequently, a Police party of PS Magam led by SHO Magam raided the house and during search, 50 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from the said residential house. The accused owner has been arrested accordingly.

In Awantipora, a Police party at a checkpoint established at Sail Crossing, arrested a drug peddler identified as Kifayat Shafiq son of Shafiq Ahmad Bhat resident of Sail Awantipora. During search, 3.5 Kgs of grinded Cannabis was recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile in Shopian, a Police party of Police Station Shopian at a checkpoint established at Batapora Shopian arrested a drug peddler identified as Mohd Ishaq Khanday @Hie Khanday son of Gh Qadir Khanday resident of Khanday Mohallah Bonbazar Shopian. During search, 62 grams of Charas was recovered from his possession.
