Sopore Police Bust Illicit Drug Parcel, Accused Arrested at Courier Office

Sopore Police successfully intercepted an illicit drug consignment and arrested an accused during a coordinated operation at DTDC Courier Service, New Colony Sopore.

Sopore Police received specific and reliable information that an unknown person was likely to receive a parcel containing illicit drugs from a courier service. Acting promptly on the input, FIR No. 281/2025 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sopore, and investigation was set into motion.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

During the course of investigation, a police team led by the Investigating Officer, along with SDPO Sopore, SHO Sopore, Drug Inspector, and an Executive Magistrate, reached the courier office. One individual namely Tahir Tariq Sheikh S/O Tariq Ahmad Sheikh R/O Seelu, Sopore
was apprehended on the spot while receiving the suspected parcel.

The parcel was opened on-site in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Drug Inspector, and FSL Team Sopore. Upon examination, the following contraband was recovered and seized; Alprazolam: 10 boxes containing 2000 tablets, Pregabalin: 200 tablets and Other pharmaceutical drugs.

Sopore Police Launch Crackdown on Rotten Food Sales, FIRs Registered Against Offenders

In light of recent reports regarding the sale of rotten and unhygienic food items, Police in Sopore intensified market inspections in collaboration with the Food Safety Department, FCS&CA officials, and other concerned departments, in the presence of Executive Magistrates.

According to a statement issued here, during the drive at Watergam, unfit raw food was seized from the shops of Ab. Hameed Bhat and Hotel Heaven of Iqbal Rasool Tantray. Case FIR No. 101/2025 has been registered at PS Dangiwacha.

At Sopore Bus Stand, Abid Ismail Bakhroo was found selling chicken in highly unhygienic conditions, with waste dumped in public areas posing serious health hazards. Case FIR No. 177/2025 has been registered at PS Sopore.

J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment to safeguarding public health and food safety. Strict legal action will continue against those indulging in the sale of rotten or unhygienic food items.The public is urged to stay alert and promptly report such malpractices to the nearest police station.

Sopore Police Raid Separatist Links, Seize Incriminating Material in UAPA Case

In connection with the investigation of Case FIR No. 08/2024 U/S 10,13 UA(P) Act, Sopore police on Thursday conducted a raid at Bomai, targeting the individuals associated with proscribed outfits viz Democratic Freedom Party.

The police search was carried at the residential premises of separatist elements suspected of involvement in unlawful activities that pose a threat to public order and national security. The search was conducted after obtaining warrant from Hon’ble Court of law.

During the search several incriminating materials linked to the activities of the banned outfits were seized as evidence in FIR registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The raid was conducted in the presence of Magistrate and independent witnesses to ensure full legal adherence and procedural transparency.
