Sajad Lone Criticises

Addressing a press conference in Handwara, Lone, along with senior party leader and Chief Spokesperson Bashir Ahmed Dar and other party leaders, accused the government of making false claims about governance. He said the administration has delivered one of the most cruel and ineffective rules in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lone said the government’s major election promises were nothing but deliberate deception. He pointed out that instead of providing free 200 units of electricity, people in non-metered areas are now facing a 50 per cent increase in power tariffs.

He further said the promise of 12 free gas cylinders has disappeared, while the pledge of providing one lakh jobs has turned into what he called a “big outsourcing scam”. According to Lone, permanent government jobs are being handed over to private companies, which is harming the youth.

The Peoples Conference chief also said governance has been reduced to a “transfer industry”, while basic public services continue to deteriorate.

Lone strongly criticised what he described as political vendetta against Government Medical College Handwara. He alleged that the institution is being deliberately neglected because it was approved during the Peoples Conference’s tenure.

He said it was shameful that while every other medical college in the Union Territory received an MRI machine, GMC Handwara was denied one simply because its MLA sits in the opposition. Lone said if the government continues to ignore the issue, he will arrange MRI and Cath Lab facilities through CSR funds. He added that the college has significantly improved the local economy and should not suffer due to political rivalry.

Echoing Lone’s views, Bashir Ahmed Dar said the last 15 months of the NC government have been a “burden of failures”. He dismissed the recent publicity around the ruling party’s Rajya Sabha nomination, calling it a distraction from poor governance.

Dar said a Rajya Sabha member has no direct role in district development and accused the government of creating posts only to reward loyalists, while ignoring real constituency work, which is the responsibility of MLAs. He added that the opposition had waited for the promised “new dawn” by December 31, but instead saw only symbolic events without real impact.

Lone also raised concerns over the current reservation policy, saying it is unfairly skewed. He claimed that 74 per cent of selections under the reserved quota are going to the Jammu region, leaving Kashmir with a very small share. He demanded restoration of District and Divisional cadres to correct the imbalance and urged politicians to stop misleading the public with false promises.

He also criticised Omar Abdullah for what he called silence over alleged harassment of Kashmiris outside the Union Territory. Lone said he expected the Chief Minister to intervene and speak up for the people.

Concluding the press conference, Lone referred to the history of the 1987 elections and warned the ruling party that the political situation has changed. He said the government is disconnected from the people and claimed it will not complete its full term due to growing public anger. He said the Peoples Conference will continue to expose the failures of the present government.

Sajad Lone Raises Concern Over Harassment of Handwara Residents Working Outside J&K

Sajad Lone Criticises

J&K Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone on Friday expressed serious concern over reports of harassment faced by residents of his constituency who travel to other parts of the country for livelihood.

Terming the situation troubling, Lone said he has personally received distress calls from inhabitants of his constituency currently working in Arunachal Pradesh.

Highlighting that such migration has been a long-standing tradition for people of the district, PC President emphasized that their safety and dignity must be ensured at all costs by the Central Government.

He appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take urgent notice of the matter and intervene to guarantee the safety and well-being of the affected individuals.

Sajad Lone Raises Alarm Over Kangan Demolition, Calls for Fair Enforcement and Tourism Reforms in Kashmir

Sajad Lone Critisize

&K Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone on Wednesday expressed serious concern over a demolition in Kangan after visuals of a house being razed drew widespread unease.

In a statement, Lone said the footage was troubling on several counts. “I came across some visuals of demolition in Kangan. I have absolutely no idea why they were demolishing a seemingly beautiful house. The furniture is inside. The curtains are there. I can bet there is something sinister. Normally the furniture would be removed,” he said.

He questioned the basis of the action even if officials believed it was a commercial property. “Assume it was a hotel. How big a crime is it to make a hotel without permission. Are all hotels in Kashmir legal. Was this the last illegal hotel,” he asked.

Linking the incident to a broader structural problem he said, “If a majority of people are breaking the law, is there something wrong with the people or is there something wrong with the law.” He criticised the tendency to take moral positions only when it concerns someone else’s property. “Why is every person in Kashmir a climate activist or a sustainability expert when it pertains to other peoples properties,” he said.

PC President argued that Kashmir’s tourism aspirations require modern hotels and well designed infrastructure. “Doesn’t an aspiring tourist destination like Kashmir need infrastructure. Doesn’t it need hotels,” he said, adding that the region must update laws that he believes are “stuck in the era of the past”.

He said demolition drives invariably hit the powerless while officials who greenlight such structures face no accountability. “Who facilitated these constructions. Has even one person been booked. The answer is No. If you work in government, you operate with impunity,” he said.

Warning that shrinking government employment cannot sustain the population he said, “There are no government jobs on offer. If government will not allow to build, will not innovate, what will people do. How will they earn a living.”

He urged the administration to allow serious private investment in tourism, noting that “the old style of tourism of making huts will not work” and that “the Babus should make way for tourism consultants”.

In an appeal to the Chief Minister he said, “Please take a personal interest in revamping a mindset which is a fossil dating back to decades.” Lone called for deregulation, an end to punitive demolitions and a fair enforcement system. “Why is it that only poor homes or hotels get demolished. What about the elite. Are they all within the permissible limits,” he asked.

Sajad Lone Leads Candlelight Protest in Srinagar to Condemn Pahalgam Attack on Tourists

Sajad Lone

JKPC President and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone led a solemn candlelight protest at Polo View in Srinagar, joined by the party’s rank and file, to condemn the brutal Pahalgam attack that claimed innocent lives.

Addressing the media, Lone described the Pahalgam killings as “profoundly regrettable,” underscoring that “this is the gravest attack on our people in the past thirty years.”

He lamented that tourists—who come “in good faith,” stay in Kashmiri hotels, travel in local vehicles, dine in our restaurants, and shop in our markets—have been ambushed by outsiders, asking, “If they kill our guests, who bears responsibility?”

“All of Kashmir today is shedding tears of blood,” Lone continued. “These slain tourists were part of our hearts. The mass turnout in the streets must send a clear message to these nefarious elements: this is our land, and these visitors are our guests. Lay down your bullets; we will not tolerate even a glare at our guests.”

Reflecting on Kashmiri hospitality, he noted, “For decades, our people have been renowned for their warmth and generosity. But now, the blood of our guests stains our conscience. It was outsiders who struck, not we, the natives.” He said the outpouring of grief and solidarity across every street and corner should serve as a stern warning to those wielding guns that such atrocities “will no longer be tolerated.”

Lone lamented the erosion of sacred traditions into “stigmatization” but vowed, “We will not stand for it.” He condemned the terrorists’ ever-changing aliases and questioned, “Have they not already killed enough Kashmiri Muslims? They claim religion, then politics, then ideology—but neither faith nor politics justifies murder. Our religion forbids it, and so do we.”

Highlighting true Kashmiriyat, he praised a local ferryman who lost his life wrestling a rifle away to protect tourists, and those who carried the wounded to safety.

“That,” he said, “is the essence of our culture.” He warned that the external villains behind this atrocity aim to cripple Kashmir’s economy and leave its people destitute—but asserted firmly, “They will not succeed.”

Lone was joined by JKPC Secretary Abbas Wani; Provisional Secretary Irfan Mattoo; Spokesperson Muneeb Quraishi; and Secretary to the Party President Tasaduq Yasin.

Also present were Youth Wing leaders: YJKPC President Mudasir Karim; Spokesperson Sheikh Rizwan; Secretary Zulfiqar Bhat; Budgam District President Wahid Khan and Secretary Ishfaq; Baramulla Vice President Muzamil; Beerwah Secretary Showkat Khan; Srinagar Secretary Arshid Sultan; and Zadibal Student Movement Head Aaqib Bhat.

Sajad Lone Slams NC Over Waqf Bill Chaos, Calls Assembly Drama “Theatre”; PDP’s Waheed Para Marshalled Out

Sajad Lone

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President Sajad Lone attacked the National Conference-led government, claiming that the party should remove the speaker appointed by them so that discussion on the Waqf Act can take place in the assembly.

Lone said that the NC MLAs demanding a discussion “reeks of theatre,” as it was the party’s own Speaker, Abdul Rahim Rather, who had denied discussions on the Waqf Bill under Rule 58.

Earlier, the PDP had submitted a fresh resolution in the House urging the Central Government to repeal the Waqf Amendment Act.

“Speaker sir has the pleasure of NC, He is the speaker of the National Conference. The party chose him, if the party feels that he is obstructing, then bring no confidence (motion) change him and bring a new speaker, otherwise it reeks of theatre. People will taking us intro confidence,” Sajad Lone told reporters outside the Assembly.

Criticising the lapse of other resolutions, he added, “Earlier, other resolutions were also lapsed, why are we lapsing everything else? If everyone in NC feels that there should be a discussion, then bring a new Speaker. What is so big in it?”

Sajad Lone was also seen getting into an argument with other NC MLAs in the assembly.

Following chaos in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over the demand to discuss the Waqf Board reforms, PDP MLA Waheed Para was marshalled out. Subsequently, the house was adjourned for 30 minutes.

NC MLA Altaf Kaloo had moved an adjournment motion and sought time to speak in the House, but the Speaker did not respond. PDP MLA Waheed Para and other MLAs of the party reached the Well of the House, showing some papers. Following this, they were marshalled out. NC leaders, who had also reached the Well of the House, entered into an argument with J&K People’s Conference chief Sajad Lone.

Meanwhile, PDP’s Waheed Para, speaking to reporters outside the assembly, called the chaos in the house “unfortunate” because Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim majority state.

“It is unfortunate that Jammu and Kashmir is the Muslim majority region; if there is a Muslim CM in all of India, then it is in J&K. The whole country’s 24 crore Muslims are watching this,” Para told reporters.

Urging for all MLAs to support the resolution brought by PDP, he added, “There are 60 MLAs here, out of those 60 if they do not support a resolution which we have moved against the Waqf Act…I think history will judge us forever” (ANI)

Sajad Lone Slams NC Over LG’s Address, Calls It Ideologically Aligned with BJP

Sajad Lone

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President Sajad lone on Monday Criticised National Conference over lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s Address to J&K Assembly.

In a post on X, Sajad lone wrote, “The governor’s address is indistinguishable from a possible BJP speech, had they been in power. There seems to be total ideological overlap.”

“No mention not even remotely of Article 370, Article 35 A. No mention of 5 August 2019. No mention of reorganisation Act.” He added.

“Seems the NC government has finally done away even with ornamentalism. They don’t even want to pretend that have anything to do with Article 370.” Sajad lone said

“I remember how during election campaign it was all about Article 370, and how all others are BJP. And now the ideological overlap.”he added.

“What a comedown. And if this address was a vision statement of the government, it is as visionless as it can get. It is a generalised departmental statement without any new political, social or economic intiative.” Sajad lone added.

“So, be prepared for an aimless, visionless spell of governance, bereft of any newness in approach or any creativity.” he added.

“Same beaten track. The bureaucrats ran the last administration. The bureaucrats will run this administration. The political contribution to governance is all set to be non existent.” Sajjad lone wrote.

Sajad Lone Criticizes NC Leaders for Alleged Hate Speeches During Elections

sajad lone

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) President and MLA Handwara, Sajad Lone, has strongly criticized leaders of the National Conference (NC) for their alleged hate speeches of its leaders during elections  which are in contrary of CM Omar Abdullah praising PM Modi.
In a Post on X, he accused them of creating an atmosphere of hostility and violence through their rhetoric.
Referring to the aftermath of the “no clouds in the sky” speech by the Chief Minister, Lone pointed out that thousands of speeches made by NC contestants, many of whom are now MLAs, surfaced on social media. He claimed that these speeches contained venomous and inflammatory content, portraying their political opponents as enemies of Muslims and inciting communal hatred.
“I heard some of them.I shivered. I wonder how we are alive,” Lone remarked, emphasizing the dangerous impact of such statements. He alleged that these leaders worked to create circumstances that could lead to political killings, in a place where past utterances have resulted in violence.
Reiterating his stance on political assassinations, Lone said, “It is the evil mouth and the even eviler brain that sums up the anatomy of a political killing. The one who presses the trigger is, as a rule, a dispensable brainwashed idiot.”
He further stated that his social media team has been directed to compile a digital list of such speeches, asserting that the people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve to know what their leaders said during elections and what they are saying now. (KNS)

Sajad Lone Criticizes CM Omar Abdullah Over Security-Related Train Halt in Katra Jammu

Sajad Lone

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (JKPC) president and Handwara MLA Sajad Lone has strongly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah over the security-related halt of the train in Katra, questioning its necessity and accusing him of aligning with Delhi’s policies.

Lone, in a sharp statement, expressed his concerns over what he described as the justification of every decision made under the pretext of security. “Please give us all a break. Stop justifying everything and anything that the BJP does. By justifying security excuses, one can virtually justify everything,” he said, emphasizing that similar arguments have been used by past and present governments.

Targeting Omar Abdullah personally, Lone reminded him of his past political stances as an NDA Union Minister. “Wish our people had remembered your utterances as NDA Union Minister.

I, per se, am not surprised at your right-wing views on security issues,” he remarked, further alleging that Omar was acting as “Delhi’s man in Kashmir” despite not being officially admitted into the NDA.

He also accused Omar Abdullah of being complicit in what he claimed were harsh measures against the people of Kashmir. “I have said it umpteen times and will repeat it. The day you join them, people will forget the past five years. You will create new records in torture,” Lone asserted.

Questioning the logic behind the security stop at Katra, he argued that it diminished the psychological relevance of the train for Kashmir. “The change of train in Katra erodes the train of all its psychological relevance. And I would love to know what they will do security-related in Katra that they can’t do in Srinagar,” he added. (KNS)

Sajad Lone Criticizes CM’s Speech at Rail Inauguration, Questions BJP’s Influence in Kashmir Politics

Sajad Lone

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President Sajad lone said , “If facelessness had a voice the speech of our CM at the digital inaugural ceremony of the Rail to Srinagar comes to my mind.”

In a post on X, “Sajad lone wrote, “The same CM who gave interview after interview saying the BJP has done nothing. And he uses the word highways in many interviews.”

“And look how he was singing praises in honour of the BJP Prime Minister. For me it is believable. I always knew that it is a fixed match. In the election period the BJP was attacking them on a daily basis to make them look credible in the eyes of the Kashmiri people.” he said.

And how long will BJP decide who we will vote for. When will our voters mature. So the prize for facelessness goes to our CM.

“And the prize for shamelessness goes to those so called intellectuals, so called opinion makers who probably being a part of the fixed match created an environment — where the present CM enjoyed a monopoly to paint all his rivals with the BJP brush. And these so called intellectuals opinion makers came on social media and other forums facilitating the “All others are BJP” discourse.” the post reads.

Sajad Lone Urges Kashmir University to Establish Exam Centres in Kupwara

sajad lone

Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference President Sajad lone on Saturday requested authorities at the Kashmir University to have examination centres in District Kupwara.

In a post on X, Sajad lone wrote, “It is humble request to authorities at the Kashmir University to have examination centres in District Kupwara. It is the northernmost area of JK straddling the LOC.”

“Not having an examination centre is a barrier to academic excellence. Travelling 100 plus kilometres in biting cold is hardly an optimum start for exams. These are non academic hardships which impact academics and need to be removed.” he added.

“It is psychological fact that recall during exams, concentration, writing fluency are all impacted by the environment. Travelling long distances adds to academic stress and negatively impacts academic performance.”the post reads.
