Rahul Gandhi Visits Bhagirathpura, Says Clean Drinking Water Is a Right, Not Politics

Rahul Gandhi Visits Bhagirathpura

Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday visited Bhagirathpura area of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and met families affected by water contamination that reportedly led to several deaths.

Accompanied by the families of the victims, Rahul Gandhi said the ongoing water crisis highlights the failure to provide clean drinking water to residents. Pointing towards a temporary water tank, he said it symbolises the lack of a permanent solution.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

“This water tank shows that there is still no clean water here. A temporary fix has been put in place, which may last a few days. But once attention moves away, the situation will return to how it was before,” he said.

He added that the affected families are not making unreasonable demands. “They are simply asking for proper, systematic work and clean drinking water. They want the government to fulfil its responsibility. I have come here to support them,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi also dismissed claims that his visit was politically motivated. He said he was not stopped from meeting the families and stressed that his presence was part of his role as the Leader of Opposition.

“This is not politics. People have died here, and people are still not getting clean water. I am here to highlight their issues. This is my job and my responsibility,” he said.

Responding to criticism, he said he was unconcerned about how his visit was portrayed. “You can call it whatever you want. Call it politics if you wish. I don’t care. I am here to stand with the people and help them,” he added.

The visit has once again brought focus on demands for a permanent and reliable clean water supply in Bhagirathpura, with residents urging authorities to take urgent and lasting action.
