The joint team launched the operation during the night of March 14–15, 2026. During the search operation, troops noticed suspicious movement inside thick bushes in the area. Security forces quickly adjusted their ambush position and challenged the suspected militant.

Officials said the terrorist responded by opening indiscriminate fire on the troops. In the brief exchange of fire that followed, the terrorist was shot dead.

After the encounter, security forces recovered several weapons and other war-like items from the site. These included an AK rifle, pistols and a large quantity of ammunition.

The Indian Army said the operation is still ongoing in the area to ensure that no other infiltrators are present.

Earlier Infiltration Attempt Foiled in Nowshera

Earlier, on March 10, security forces foiled another infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps said troops detected the movement of two suspected terrorists near the Jhangar area of Nowshera at around 3 pm after intelligence agencies shared credible information.

Acting quickly on the inputs, the troops launched an operation to stop the infiltration attempt. During the encounter, one Pakistan-sponsored terrorist was killed, while the operation helped prevent militants from entering Indian territory.

Security forces remain on high alert along the LoC to stop infiltration attempts and maintain security in the region.
