The Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, today expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to an accident near Sanyas area in Kishtwar.

In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor said: “Pained by the loss of lives due to a tragic road accident in Kishtwar. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones”.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Tuesday emphasised bolstering Police and allied organisations, infusing technology in alignment with human resources for modernisation to effectively deal with the security and law and order-related challenges in J&K.

Reviewing the progress of ongoing projects under Security Related Expenditure (SRE), Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) and issues related to prison management and border management, he directed to expedite the pace of work to meet stipulated deadlines.

LG Sinha issued these directions while chairing a high-level meeting to review the functioning of the Home Department today at Raj Bhawan.This was the second high-level meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor after his Secretariat started functioning in Jammu on November 11.

In an assertion of earlier guidelines regarding “no leniency while dealing with all threats to internal security”, emphasis was made on fine-tuning strategies with a synergetic approach.In the case of border management also, the direction was to identify vulnerabilities and check flaws to ensure a synergised fool-proof system in place.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary, Atal Dulloo; Principal Secretary, Home, Chandraker Bharti; DGP Nalin Prabhat; DGP Prisons, Deepak Kumar; ADGP Headquarters and Coordination, M K Sinha; ADGP Law and Order, Vijay Kumar; ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain; Director Fire and Emergency Services, Alok Kumar; ADGP CID, Nitish Kumar; Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Dr Mandeep K Bhandari; IGP Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi and other senior officials of the J&K Police.

An official spokesperson said that at the outset of the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor was briefed on Security Related Expenditure (SRE), manpower positioning, infrastructure works and other important issues of Home and subordinate departments including J&K Police, Prisons, Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guards, SDRF, Prosecution and Forensic Sciences.

“The Lieutenant Governor emphasised modernisation and strengthening of Police and allied organisations to effectively deal with the security and law and order related challenges. He further directed for completion of all projects under SRE and PMDP within the stipulated time,” the spokesperson said.

The meeting also discussed effective prison management, human resources and other issues related to internal security and the criminal justice system.

Following the meeting, LG Sinha, on his official ‘X’ handle (Office of LG, J&K), posted, “Chaired a review meeting of the Home Department at Raj Bhawan today. Evaluated the progress of ongoing projects under SRE and PMDP and discussed issues related to prison management, border management, police modernisation and human resources.”

Earlier on November 17, LG Sinha had chaired a high-level meeting of senior officials of civil administration and J&K Police to review security and development projects in the Jammu region.

He had emphasised synergised operations and a foolproof security grid to thwart the malevolent design of terrorists and anti-national elements in the region. He had asked the officers to go full throttle, with an iron-hand approach in synchronisation with effective and foolproof strategies, to “demolish terrorism and its aiders and abettors.”

Regarding development, he had focussed on seamless, expedited execution of major infra projects meeting deadlines.

Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today attended the final match of the Legends League Cricket at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar.

The Lt Governor interacted with the international players including Irfan Pathan, Martin Guptill, Hamilton Masakadza, Yusuf Pathan, Kedar Jadhav and Vinay Kumar and conveyed his felicitations to officials of Legends League Cricket and legendary Cricketers participating in the historic sporting spectacle.

In a social media post, the Lt Governor has termed the Legends League Cricket as the beginning of a new sporting era for Kashmir Valley. He said the historic event has marked the return of the International Cricket Tournament to the valley after 36 years.

Interacting with the media persons, the Lt Governor said the excitement and admiration the people of Kashmir valley have for legendary Cricketers is the reflection of peaceful, prosperous and Badalta Jammu Kashmir. This is also the result of our efforts to establish peace in the last 4-5 years, he said.

The Lt Governor highlighted the upgradation of Bakshi Stadium and MA Stadium and emergence of J&K as hub of International and National sporting events, under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The kind of crowd and enthusiasm among the people we have witnessed over the last one week, it seems like the cricket fever has gripped the entire Kashmir. A great beginning was made last year when Jammu had hosted the Legends League Cricket matches. We have the facilities to host any international level cricket matches in J&K, he said.

The Lt Governor also appreciated the efforts of the Sports department and Sports Council to promote sports culture and nurture young talent.

He said the J&K has immensely talented youth and the presence of Legendary Cricketers and events like Legends League Cricket will inspire many youths to bring laurels to the UT and the nation.

LG Manoj Sinha: Will Leave J&K Only After Holding Elections

Srinagar, January 10 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha affirmed on Wednesday that he will depart from J&K only after overseeing the elections.

Addressing the audience at Abhinav Theatre Jammu during the Abhinandan Samaroh organized by the All Minority Employees Association of Kashmir, Sinha, as reported by Kashmir News Service (KNS), mentioned that there is talk about him entering electoral contests, but he has no intention of participating in elections or engaging in politics.

Sinha emphasized that the attainment of peace is a gradual process that cannot be bought but demands purposeful endeavors, and the government is actively working towards achieving this objective.

Furthermore, he expressed the commitment, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to eradicate terrorism and create a safe and secure environment for the people. Sinha asserted that terrorism is on its last breath, and efforts are underway to eliminate the terror ecosystem from the soil of J&K. He highlighted that the combination of peace and development has significantly improved the quality of life and the standard of living for the residents.

Sinha acknowledged the varying perspectives between Jammu and Kashmir, noting that he has maintained consistency in his statements across both regions of J&K. Emphasizing the diversity of J&K, the LG described it as a land of major religions where respect for all sects has enriched the cultural heritage.

In conclusion, expressing support for the youth, LG Sinha announced that the administration would provide assistance to the 5163 youths registered with the Relief & Rehabilitation Department for self-employment opportunities.
