A 52-year-old woman tourist from Maharashtra has died after suddenly collapsing at a hotel in the Barbershah area of Srinagar, police said.
The woman, identified as Kanta, wife of Moreshwar Barbal and a resident of Parwanchwati Wanshari Kalyani in Maharashtra, had been staying at the hotel with a group since April 3. Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
According to police, she suddenly fell unconscious inside the hotel. Hotel staff and her companions immediately rushed her to Khayber Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her brought dead on arrival.
Initial reports suggest that the cause of death could be a sudden heart attack. However, officials said the exact reason will only be confirmed after completion of medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken the body into custody and started necessary legal procedures as part of the investigation.
The incident involves a visiting tourist, and authorities are following standard protocol to determine the exact cause of death.
