Lt Gen Sharma met officers and soldiers deployed in forward areas and praised their professionalism, high morale, and dedication to duty despite difficult terrain and harsh weather. He commended the troops for maintaining strong security while also helping ensure peace and stability in the region.

A major focus of the visit was the growing use of technology in military operations. The Army Commander appreciated the use of modern tools such as surveillance systems, drones, secure communication networks, and data-based decision-making to improve operational effectiveness and situational awareness.

He stressed the need for constant alertness, close coordination with other security agencies, and continuous skill development to deal with changing security threats. He encouraged commanders to further use technology and innovation to stay ahead of adversaries.

Lt Gen Sharma also visited Army Aviation squadrons operating in the Kashmir Valley to review their readiness and support role for frontline units. These aviation units play an important role in emergencies and provide logistical support to troops stationed in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

He reviewed ongoing operations, aircraft condition, flight safety standards, and challenges faced due to difficult terrain and bad weather. Interacting with officers and aircrew, he praised their professionalism and contribution to sustaining Army operations.

On the occasion, Lt Gen Sharma presented the Northern Command Annual Flight Safety Trophy to two frontline Army Aviation squadrons. The award recognises their strong safety standards, operational efficiency, and dedicated service in challenging conditions.
