Two people were seriously injured in a leopard attack in the Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, officials said.

How the Attack Happened
According to local residents, the leopard had been roaming in the Marchipora and Chandilora areas for several days, creating panic among villagers.
Eyewitnesses said the animal first attacked Najar near Gousia Model School in Chandilora. Shortly after, it attacked Ganai in Mirchipora village.
Both men suffered serious injuries in the separate attacks.
Medical Condition
The injured were rushed to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Tangmarg, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Doctors have described their condition as serious.
Rising Fear Among Residents
Locals say the leopard’s presence has caused fear across nearby villages, with people avoiding outdoor movement, especially during early morning and evening hours.
Residents have urged the Wildlife Department to take immediate action to capture the animal before more people are harmed.

- Immediate trapping of the leopard
- Increased patrolling in affected areas
- Quick response from wildlife authorities
