Kishtwar Flood Victims

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu to meet victims of the flash floods that struck Chisoti village in Kishtwar district on August 14, 2025. Accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Singh inquired about the health of 16 injured individuals receiving treatment. The cloudburst in Chisoti caused devastating floods, resulting in 65 deaths, over 100 injuries, and 32 people still missing. Singh expressed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concern about the tragedy and was briefed by doctors on the patients’ conditions. His planned visit to Chisoti was canceled due to bad weather and landslides blocking roads. Lieutenant Governor Sinha noted that the condition of the injured is stable, and rescue operations continue, with over ₹4.13 crore distributed to affected families. Singh was joined by Union Minister Jitendra Singh during the hospital visit.
