Dr Darakhshan Andrabi Meets Kiren Rijiju, Discusses Waqf Reforms and Future Plans

Chairperson of Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today held a detailed meeting with the Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and thanked the minister for praising herwork as the head of the J&K Waqf Board.

She informed the Minister that the entire team of the Board had put in a lot of hard work to transform the Waqf management system in J&K which was ailing to the core. Dr Andrabi discussed futuristic Waqf development and management possibilities and plans with the Union Minister.

She hailed the central government for initiating the era of change in the Waqf Act by passing the Amendments Bill 2025. Dr Andrabi said a false propaganda against the amendments hasbeen spread whileas the these changes into the Act were long due and recommended by many who have studied or worked with the system. She said that soon the Muslim community throughout India will come to know about the benefits of these amendments.

Kiren Rijiju hailed the views of Dr Andrabi and her clear stand based on facts. He also praised Andrabi for her direct samvad with the people on Waqf Bill benefits.

India and Saudi Arabia Sign Hajj Agreement for 2025: Increased Quota Announced

 Kiren Rijiju, India’s Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs, undertook an official visit to Saudi Arabia to finalize a bilateral agreement regarding the Hajj pilgrimage. During his visit, he held fruitful discussions with H.E. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
Rijiju received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Saudi Arabia by Ambassador Dr. Suhel Khan and Deputy Minister for Umrah Affairs, Prof. Abdulaziz A. Wazzan. Later, the Deputy Minister hosted Rijiju for a formal dinner, marking the cordial relations between the two nations.
On 13th January, the Indian minister and H.E. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah signed the bilateral Hajj agreement for 2025. A significant outcome of their discussions was the allocation of an increased quota of 1,75,025 Indian pilgrims for the pilgrimage.

Both parties expressed their commitment to ensuring the best services for the pilgrims, underscoring the importance of this spiritual journey.
Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rijiju shared the milestone, stating:“Haj Agreement 2025 signed with H.E. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Minister for Hajj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Finalized a quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India for Hajj 2025. We are committed to providing the best possible services to all our Haj pilgrims.”
