In line with ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in health institutions and security protocols within the city, Srinagar Police, in coordination with medical officers from the Health Department, carried out inspections of lockers used by doctors and staff across district and private hospitals, medical colleges, PHCs and health facilities.
The inspections were aimed at preventing misuse of lockers for unauthorized storage of illegal or hazardous materials and strengthening the internal security within medical institutions.
All racks and lockers were thoroughly examined, and staff were reminded to maintain proper records and ensure that lockers are used strictly for official purposes.
Authorities have reiterated that such inspections will be conducted regularly as part of routine vigilance to maintain a safe and secure environment in hospitals.

Jammu and Kashmir Police Seize Drugs Worth Crores, Arrest Two Accused in Srinagar’s Batamaloo
Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday have seized narcotic substances valued in crores and 02 accused persons have been arrested in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
A Police spokesperson said, “On November 12, during nakaa checking at Tengpora flood channel in Batamaloo, police team of Srinagar Police detained two individuals identified as Love Kumar from Shahdara Kastura Nagar, Delhi and Vipin Kumar from Sultanpuri, Delhi.”
“Upon their search, 2.4 kg of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. Consequently, FIR No. 140/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Batmaloo and investigation initiated”, he said.
During the course of investigation, the accused persons disclosed information that led to further recovery of 2.86 kg of Crystal Meth ( Amphetamine ) from their vehicle ( Ertiga ) bearing registration no. HR11N 7336.
