During the search, a police uniform along with SSP insignia was recovered from his bag, raising immediate suspicion about his intentions.
According to officials, the man was impersonating a senior police officer to deceive and mislead the public. “His motive appears to be fraudulent, and he was using the uniform to gain undue advantage,” a police officer said.
A case under FIR No. 118/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kokernag, and investigations are currently underway to uncover the full extent of his activities and whether others were involved.
Police have urged the public to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious individuals trying to misuse police identity or rank.
