Police Arrest Four Drug Peddlers in Kupwara, Contraband Recovered in Separate Actions

Drug Peddlers in Kupwara

Continuing its crackdown against the menace of drugs, Kupwara Police arrested four drug peddlers in separate actions and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.

A police spokesperson said a checkpoint was established at Halpal road near Masjid Murshideen, where two suspicious individuals tried to flee but were apprehended tactfully. During checking, heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. They were identified as Umair Ibn Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir, resident of Regipora, and Kashif Ul Islam, son of Mohd Sultan Bhat, resident of Batergam.

In another action, a police party from PS Lalpora intercepted two individuals during naka checking at Rangward. A considerable quantity of charas-like substance was recovered from them. They were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat, resident of Krusan, and Aabid Shafi Mir, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Dharamwari.

All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigation is underway.

The J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to curb the menace of drugs in the Valley and appealed to the public for cooperation in eradicating the threat from society.
