Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Pampore; 37.74 kg Poppy Straw Seized by J&K Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 37.740 kgms of poppy straw in Pampore area of Awantipora.

A Police spokesperson said that Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, a police party of Police Station Pampore, headed by SHO PS Pampore, Inspector Khalid Fayaz, while conducting naka checking duty at Kadlabal Pampore Chowk, intercepted a KUV 100 NXT K2 (Black) vehicle bearing registration number JK04F-4498.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The vehicle was boarded by the following two persons:

1. Jehangir Ahmad Dar, S/O Ab Rashid Dar, R/O Kandour Khansahab, Budgam (Driver)

2. Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, S/O Ab Razaq Dar, R/O Palpora, Budgam

During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 37.740 kgms of poppy straw (Fuki). Both the accused persons were apprehended on the spot, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized.

Accordingly, FIR No. 127/2025 under sections 8/15 & 29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pampore, and further investigation has been initiated.

Pulwama Police Arrests Three Drug Peddlers, Seizes Large Quantities of Charas

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Pulwama Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Police spokesperson said, “On a specific information about concealing of narcotic substance at the residential houses of two drug peddlers at Kisrigam Kakapora, a police party from Police Station Kakapora raided both the residential houses and recovered 10.7 Kgs of grinded Charras Powder from the residential house of Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Gh. Nabi Dar and 7.8 Kgs of grinded Charras Powder from the residential house of Irshad Ahmad Mantoo son of Gh. Nabi Mantoo.”

Similarly in another action, a police party of PS Litter during naka checking at Litter near Petrol Pump intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, 200 grams of Charas like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Mehraj-u-din Shah son of Gulam Hassan Shah resident of Chari Sharief Budgam.

All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Srinagar Police has arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents and recovered contraband/psychotropic substances from their possession.

Acting on a specific input regarding a person namely Bashir Ahmed Ganie son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie resident of Suthsu Kalan, who had hoarded contraband substances in his residential house, a police party of PS Nowgam along with 1st Class Executive Magistrate BK Pora raided the said location.

During search, 8.5 kgs of Psychotropic substances were recovered from the said location and the accused owner of the house has been arrested. Case FIR no. 116/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at PS Nowgam and investigation initiated.

Meanwhile, during the investigation of the case FIR No. 28/2024 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of PS Maisuma, a checkpoint was established at Sheikh Bagh Lane, following the disclosure of two arrested drug peddlers of the instant case, the main accused identified as Shabir Ahmad Zaindari son of Bashir Ahmad Zaindari resident of Firdous Colony Bemina has been arrested. During search,substantial quantity of contraband substances have been recovered from his possession.

Residential Properties of Drug Peddlers in Karnah Attached by Kupwara Police

In a significant move under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Police in Kupwara have attached two residential properties belonging to drug peddlers in the border area of Karnah.

This is the first time (under NDPS Act) such stringent action has been taken in this region, demonstrating the firm commitment of the police to combat the drug menace.

One of the properties attached is located in Pingla Haridal which belongs to Riyaz Ahmad Shah son of Talib Hussain Shah. This property was attached in connection with case FIR No. 02/2019 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act registered of Police Station Karnah.

The second property attached is located in Chitterkote Karnah, belongs to Jahangir Ahmad Khan, son of Rehmat Ali Khan. This attachment is linked to case FIR No. 14/2020 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act.

The combined market value of these properties is estimated to be approximately ₹40 lakhs. This action underscores the resolve of Kupwara Police to root out drug-related activities from the district, particularly in sensitive border areas like Karnah.

Police urge the public to support efforts made by the Police by reporting any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods. This proactive approach will contribute to building a drug-free and safe environment for all.

“During search, 65 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Danish Rasheed Bhat S/O Ab Rasheed Bhat R/o Lethpora, Danish Ashraf Dar S/o Mohd Ashraf R/o Lethpora and Umer Rasool Dar s/o Gh. Rasool Dar R/o Lethpora.

He said that Case FIR number 168/2024 under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation taken up.

Reinforcing the ongoing efforts against drug peddlers/smugglers, Srinagar Police has attached properties worth more than 3 crores belonging to drug peddlers under the provisions of section 68 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.”

Srinagar Police has attached a three-storied residential house of a drug peddler namely Abdul Ahad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Banpora Batamaloo on land bearing Khewat No.137 and Khasra No.294 (Abadi Deh) at Banpora Batamaloo worth Rs 65 lakhs under section 68 of NDPS Act in case FIR No. 31 of 2024. The accused person is a notorious drug peddler who sold drugs among the youth upon which case FIR No.31/2024 u/s 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj, where a substantial amount of narcotics was recovered.

In another case, a three-storied residential house situated at H. No. 18, Umer Lane Azad Basti, under Survey no. 1764 estimated at a value of Rs 2.5 crores, belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat father of Jan Manzoor Bhat resident of Natipora, was attached under section 68(F) of NDPS Act. The accused person namely Jan Manzoor Bhat is also a drug peddler who peddled narcotics among the youth of the area upon which case FIR No. 35/2024 u/s 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Chanapora.”

Both the aforementioned properties were acquired through proceeds of illegal narcotics trade. Consequently, these have been attached subject to the confirmation from the competent authority and administrator, SAFEMA and NDPSA.

In compliance to section 68 E and 68 F of NDPS Act, the immovable property acquired by the accused persons through illegal means seized or attached, shall not be transferred/sold/purchased or otherwise dealt with without the prior permission of the competent authority.

This decisive action underscores the unwavering commitment of J&K Police in eradicating the drug menace and dismantling the infrastructure supporting narcotics trafficking.

In continuation of its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Sopore Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic Substances from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Sopore and Police Post Bus Stand headed by SHO PS Sopore Insp. Ayaz Gellani under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS during patrolling at Neharpora Sopore apprehended two suspected persons namely 1. Nazir Ahmad Shah @Bedana S/O Mohammad Yousuf Shah and 2. Nasir Yousuf Shah @Bada Anta S/O Mohammad Yousuf Shah both the residents of Neharpora Sopore.

During their search Police Party was able to recover 264 capsules of banned SPASMOPROXYVON Plus from their possession.

In this connection, case FIR No. 243 under relevant sections of Law has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.
