Authorities on Thursday announced the closure of the Daksum–Sinthan road stretch after icy conditions made the route unsafe for vehicular movement.
An official from the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd told GNS that the decision was taken purely as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety. Ice formation on the road surface has made the carriageway extremely slippery, posing serious risks to commuters.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
As a result, all types of vehicles have been barred from using the Daksum–Sinthan stretch until conditions improve. The official said the prevailing weather had significantly worsened road safety, leaving authorities with no option but to suspend traffic.
To address the situation, road maintenance teams are actively working to restore safe driving conditions. Sprinkling of salt and urea is currently underway to melt the ice and improve grip on the road surface.
Officials said the road will remain closed until the icy conditions ease and it is deemed safe for traffic to resume. (GNS)
