Baramulla Police Hold Joint Security and Disaster Drill in Gulmarg Ahead of Republic Day

To review security readiness ahead of Republic Day, Baramulla Police are organising a Joint Disaster Preparedness and Security Response Rehearsal today at the world-famous tourist resort of Gulmarg.

Police officials said the exercise is part of routine security and public safety measures. The joint drill includes personnel from the Police, Army, CRPF, and BSF, working together to assess preparedness levels, response systems, and coordination among different agencies.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

During the rehearsal, security forces may be seen conducting area domination, routine checks, and public assistance activities in and around Gulmarg.

Authorities have clarified that the exercise is purely precautionary. The general public has been advised not to panic, as all essential services, tourism activities, and daily life will continue as normal. Visitors and local residents are requested to cooperate with security personnel during the drill.

Baramulla Police said they remain fully committed to maintaining peace, ensuring security, and building public confidence at all times.

Baramulla Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize Heroin and Vehicle in Tangmarg

Two drug peddlers arrested with contraband in Baramulla

Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Baramulla have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

A Spokesperson said that police party from Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg, at a checkpoint established at Tangmarg intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK04E-1076 with two persons on board. During search, 09 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of Chanapora and Mudasir Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Ahad Lone resident of Treran. Both accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 34/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and further investigation is underway.
